    MY OLD ROAD ATLAS OF CZECH AND SLOVAKIA

    Miscellaneous: If you are going to hike around the mountains buy the map of Moravskoslezske Beskydy 1:50,000 (Hiking map No. 69 by SHOCart) for 69 Kc and/or Beskydy, Ostravsko 1:100,000 map for 49 Kc (by SHOCart). They were available in bookstores (in Jablunkov, Cesky Tesin, Olomouc) and often in larger petrol/gas stations.

    In Poland I've bought very good road atlas of Czech and Slovakia 1:300,000 (with index of localities) from EuroAtlas serie with explanations in Polish, Czech, Slovak, Hungarian, German, English, French and Italian language. It was available in most bookstores, supermarkets, many petrol stations and in main border crossing points (Cieszyn).

    CZECH TRAVEL GUIDE - POLISH EDITION

    Miscellaneous: Excuse me, it's more Czech than Mosty u Jablunkova transportation tip - I will transfer it to my new Czech page, soon!

    Before you visit Czech look for information you need on VT and other internet pages and buy a travel book. I bought Polish edition of Czech travel guide: "Czechy - praktyczny przewodnik" - the best travel guide to Czech available in Polish language (325 pages).

    In English I'd buy The Rough Guide to the Czech and Slovak Republic as I like rough guide series most.

    Check your local bookstore or browse internet ones:
    Amazon - Canada, France, Germany, Japan, United Kingdom, USA;
    Dymocks - Australia;
    Barnes & Noble - USA;
    Merlin - Poland.

    Weather, walking shoes...

    KATHY  AND  BESKYDY  MAP

    Luggage and bags: For walking around cities and towns, small, city backpack and surely bag for your camera - both water-proof.

    Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: Comfortable walking shoes preferrably water-resistant: like good trainers or better special walking shoes (Danish Ecco are very comfortable and... expensive but worth the cost).
    Sun-glasses esp. in winter and summer and always a rain coat.

    Read info on climate in Czech:
    Climate of Czech Republic

    Check weather (10-day forecast) for Cesky Tesin (32 km, 20 mi northeast of Mosty u Jablunkova):
    Weather forecast for Cesky Tesin

    Toiletries and Medical Supplies: Buy toilet paper, soap (small bottle of liquid soap), paper towels or tissue papers. Usually available in public toilets (restrooms) in restaurants but... not always.

    Photo Equipment: For pictures at night and bad light (weather) take a tripod.

    Camping/Beach/Outdoor Gear: Small, light tent, gas cooker and eventually small gas lamp - available in local stores. Camp sites were often bad lighted.
