In past times frequented path from Adriatic to Baltic sea (“amber path”) was leading here. First written note about the castle is from the 13th century and it primarily served only for military purposes.
Ruins of the castle are opened for public during whole year, the tower only April – Sept.
House where the post used to be. Very nice building from 16th century with typical arcades, favourite object of photos.
Favorite thing: Isn't this figurine sweet? Novy Jicin has admirable places, like the old post (1563, today the Town Cultural Centre is located there), the church tower, Zerotin castle... Also, don't miss the theater (a magnificent early renaissance building) and Smetana's park, which is the largest park in the town.
Favorite thing: Yes, it is a museum about hats! The town of Novy Jicin is well-known for its traditional hat and woolen cloth manifacturing. Inside this museum, there is a big variety of hats, some of them are very old.
Favorite thing: This central square of the town has a remarkable architectural development. It is called Masarykovo namesti square. The arcades of the houses date from the 16th century. The whole square looks like a wonderful baroque hall, you'll remember this if you ever go there...
