Enjoy the nature, as you are in a lovely region

by diamond7

In Breclav take a stroll down a narrow trail that will bring you to the middle of a floodplain forest, the magic environs of the town. The floodplain forest, growing along the banks of the Dyje and Morava Rivers, spreads over 3,500 hectares and is the largest of its kind in Europe. These forests, interwoven with channels, dead branches and pools, in a unique area in Europe.

Terezin

by richiecdisc

The town of Terezin in north Bohemia was once famous for its imposing fortress but the lasting impression unfortunately is as a concentration camp to "re-urbanization" of at first Prague's Jewish population and then others from around Europe. Over 30,000 people died here from malnutrition, disease, and cruel punishment. This fascinating if morbid area is easily accessible from Litomerice, just a few kms away.

Litomerice

by richiecdisc

Another small gem in northern Bohemia, Litomerice has a well-preseverd medieval town center with a main square featuring Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque architecture. There are quite a few inexpensive places to eat and make sure to try the local beer, Zlatopramen.

Zatec

by richiecdisc

This small town in northern Bohemia has seen better days though it remains important with regard to hop growing, something the Czech Republic is noted for. It sits on a hill, overlooking these ancient hop fields and the city itself has recently been used for a couple of movies due to its small population and funky worn out appearance.

Loket nad Ohri

by mbsimjam

This town is not visited by many but is one of the most beautiful towns in all of the Republic. It is a town that has been restricted from growth since medieval times because it is surrounded by a river that curls around almost in a complete circle. The castle is also something to behold and it was used to jail in the early 19th century. Its a bit hard to get to Loket but well worth it.

Here's a view from the bridge crossing into the centre of town. The huge stone building clinging to the cliff is the castle. There must be something about this place because I met several people who had come and stayed for weeks or in a couple of cases months! The are a ton of great cafes and restaurants to eat or have a drink at.

Cesky Krumlov is an absolutely gorgeous little town in the south of the Czech Republic. To get there from Prague you'll probably have to take a train to Cesky Budejovice and then on to Cesky Krumlov. The Vltava river snakes through the town completely surrounding the very centre of town.
