PRAGUE >Ozivle Drevo Panorama Restaurant&cafe: A restaurant-cafe with a view on Prague
by globetrott
This nice terrace-restaurant, close to the Strahov monastery, offers a great view over the city of Prague. And as you may see on my link below, it also has a great restaurant inside.Don't worry, you might get the feeling first, that the web-page is in Czech language only, but when you take a look e.g. at the "Menu" you will see it also shows all dishes in German and English as well.A Tourist-menu with 4 courses is around 1200 Kronen ( 40 €uros)
This is a great place for a small rest after having visited Strahov monastery with its famous library. On my pic-combination you see 2 small pics of the monastery and the library .More infos about the monastery are under "Must see activities"
PRAGUE / PRAG > U Tri pstrosu: Breakfast close to Charles-bridge
by globetrott
This nice restaurant is on the right at the very end of Charles Bridge (Mala Strana-side).You may click on my link below for more infos about the restaurant and hotel. This hotel might be a good idea for photomaniacs like me, who like to take pics of Charles-bridge early in the morning, around sunrise, with almost no people around yet...
They have a nice garden-restaurant and offer a great breakfast-buffet also for tourists, not living in their hotel.I once had breakfast there for 300 Kronen (ca.10 $) - not really a cheap price for Prague, but a great choice and a very special location included !!In December 2004 they offered a New Year's Eve with music, dance and Buffet for 3900 Kronen ( 130 €uros), also for guests, not staying in the hotel.
U Sadlu: Feast like a knight in the deep cellar of U Sadlu
by Ivapeeva
If you're in Prague - please don't be one of those chicken-sh*t expats by eating at McDonalds. Try authentic Czech food in the deep cellar of Old Town Prague's best hidden secrets - restaurant "U Sadlu". You'll walk down a long and steep stairwell into the belly of medieval Prague. Sit like a tired and hungry knight or princess in one of the differently themed rooms while gulping down world class beer and inhaling huge portions of duck, dumplings, sauerkraut, potato pancakes, gulash, etc... The service is fast and friendly - and like in all places - a little effort to speak the language will ensure a big smile from the staff.
I had the Czech staple dish - roasted duck, sauerkraut and dumplings. It was AMAZING! The portion was huge and tasted as good as my Mom's (she'd kill me if she read this). My friends (who were scared of Czech food at first), to this day have not forgotten how good...
Ponorka: Submarine....
by gruszka
It's a pub (actually hosoda) crowded not only with people but also with their dogs. Full of cigarette fumes and smell of beer. Officially opened to 00:00 but if a waiter is in good mood it can be opened till 4am :) You don't have to wait for beer here... it comes to you before you even know that you wanna drink it...On Thurstdaies there are conserts (usually rock music).
beer
U parasutistů: This is something what in Czech they call hospoda!
by gruszka
Ok... so ...you have to go there if you wanna feel real Czech atmosphere. They don't have their website cause it's rather not touristic place, thay have menu in English though (so don't be afraid).
Fried hermelin (hermelin it's something like camembert cheese), again- it's the best with fries and tartar sauce. And don't forget about beer!!!(I'm vegetarian so I can't recommend any meat but for sure they have it there)
Kozlovna: Czech beer & food
by gruszka
Good czech beer and huge portions of food. Oh, and "kozel" in Czech means goat (it is also the name of beer) so restaurant is decorated with goat motive (you can find it even in plates- I mean... picture not goat meat ;)and lamps are very creative... you have to go there to see it!
Beer of course... and what in Czech Republic I like the most - fried cheese (only with fries and tartar sauce tastes properly!)
Maitrea: Vegetarian Restaurant in the center of Prague
by gruszka
It's cheap and tasty vegetarian restaurant close to the Old Townin Prague. Inside is not arranged in my favourite style but I like food there. You can buy there daily menu for about 110 CZK. Good news for vegans: some dishes can be prepared in vegan way if you ask
You should definitely try this:Paella ´a la Barcelona´with sun-dried tomatoes, champignons, shiitake mushrooms, vegetables, stir-fry sauce, vegan "chicken" pieces and parmesan!!!!
Snails
by Gili_S
For restaurants tips, check my cities pages I had indicated names and details there, here in the country page I just wrote general tips of optional food you can order and try, for example those snails I got in one place, it was very good :)
Garlic Soup
by Gili_S
One of the things that I do remember and is a must try is the local garlic soup & potato soup. Those are very popular and can be ordered in most traditional restaurants, they are also served in a special way as you can see in this photo

Czech Food
by Gili_S
I have been eating lots of local food everywhere around this country, the problems is that I don't always know how it was called, I mean, most of the food is containing meat and potatoes, but I'm not sure of its local name and how to order it again, but I added here some photos for you to view it. Specific restaurants tips you can find in the cities pages.
