Winter Sports

by Leipzig

In my eyes the best place for Winter sports in the Czech Republic is Pec Pod Snezkou. I was here in 1991 and had much fun sliding downhills, snowball-fighting and building a snowman. If I were not so unskillful in learning skiing I would go there again for skiing. But everytime I try to learn skiing myass has more contact with the snow than the skis.

If you take a stay in one of the cheappensions at Pomezni Bouda"Grenzbauden" 100m to the polishborder you can make fantasticwalks along the czech/polish borderon good marked trails to Snezka(Schneekoppe) and further on.You can even go down by Lift tothe polish site. You`ll need polish and czech money, because on that side of the bordermark a challet lies, to this countryand currency it belongs. This "Pomezni Bouda" is to reachby bus in summer holidays directlyfrom prague, other times 3 times aday from "Pec pod Snezku"Important advice:There is no bus service to Poland, only to the Czech side.Pleasedon`t go down to Poland by caror taxi, it`s very dangerous. There are mafia-spys near theborder crossing who tell their matesabout foreign cars by handy ,and taxicosts EURO 25 to the next village!Enjoy the landscape, and if you want to go to Poland take the Lift down toKowary.Even the restaurant on...

Beer Tasting!

by richiecdisc

The Czech Republic is renowned for its beer but there's more here than just Pilsner Urquell and Budvar. The trick is in finding them. As the country rushes towards westernization, the most popular beers are starting to push the smaller ones out of the picture. So, you have to be an astute beer hunter to find them. Why drink the same thing when there are lots to try? And it's up to you to do just that. If you don't, some day the smaller ones just might not be there. A good beer guide, a sense of adventure, and a nice girlfriend with a car willing to drive you all over in your pursuit. My individual city pages have more detailed information on what beers are where so check 'em out.

Ice Hockey

The Czech are sport enthusiastic, as most of European nations football is the most popular here but in the winter also Ice Hockey has its place among the top and it is very popular here.
