Kutna Hora Hlavni Nadrazi, Main Train Station by naruto | Tips for getting around Kutna Hora posted by real travelers and Kutna Hora locals. Kutna Hora Map |
 | Kutna Hora Transportation | Tips 1 - 10 of 27 | | Kutna Hora hl.n, the main station in Kutna Hora where you will arrive if you come in from Prague or Brno, is not close to the historic center but it is close to the bone church in Sedlec, about a 10 minute walk. If you are not interested in visiting the bone church, there is a local train that connects from Kutna Hora hl.n. to the Kutna Hora mesto station that is closer to the historic center, the ride takes about 7 minutes and it cost us 6kc each. It should coordinate with the trains coming in from Prague, it did coordinate with the trains going back to Prague which is what we did. The train left Kutna Hora mesto at 16:46, arrived at 16:53, giving us 6 minutes to catch the train back to Prague which was no problem especially since the train to Prague was a little late. The Kutna Hora mesto station is about a 10-15 minute walk east of the historic center and although there were a couple of directional signs it was nice to have a map from the information center to find it. Although there is more than one way to get to Kutna Hora from Prague, the train seemed to be the best option for us. We caught the train at Prague's main station, Hlavni Nadrazi, which connects with a metro station on the C line. A round trip ticket for the three of us was 344kc, I think there is a slight discount when you buy tickets for everyone together as 344 doesn't divide evenly. There are several trains that stop in Kutna Hora, it's best to get on the direct train from Praha hl.n to Kutna Hora hl.n that takes an hour 7 minutes (currently at 7:47, 9:47, 11:47, etc) instead of the slower train from Praha Masarykovo or the train that requires a change in Kolin. We took the 9:47 train from Prague hl.n which got into Kutna Hora hl.n at 10:56, this gave us plenty of time to walk to the bone church in Sedlec and visit before it closed for lunch at 12:00. We then walked to the historic center of Kutna Hora which took about a 1/2 hour, I believe there is also a bus. We caught a local train from Kutna Hora Mesto to Kutna Hora hl.n. for the return trip, see the next tip. Make sure you know what the train's ultimate destination is and train number, our train terminated in Brno and that was all that was on the overhead board. You can find all that information on the attached website, the website is in Czech, English and German. Leave a Comment

The trains going to Kutna Hora don't stop at the Kutna Hora old town station, but the main station that is in Sedlec and around 3km away from the old town. When you get off the train, you can take a small train or a bus to the center or you can always walk if you have more time or wish to enjoy the weather. If you finish up taking the train to the old town station, you will arrive to a strange place with some ugly, not-in-use houses... It is quite an experience. But soon after you will be in the picersque old town... Leave a Comment Theme: Train

The walk into Kutna Hora from the main train station is 3.1 km, as I had arrived late in the evening and I had no change for taxi (i must point out that in the arrivals part of the train station I noticed a free phone number for taxis! Doh!!). The brisk walk was refreshing I arrived at the hotel hot and bothered, but feeling better for it... The route has painted sidewalk signs to follow.. easy... Leave a Comment Theme: Other

If you are visiting Prague, but don't have a car, you can easily visit Kutna Hora by taking a train. There are many trains leaving to Kutna Hora from different Prague's train stations every day and the ride takes about an hour one way depending on which train you will take. Leave a Comment

Though there is great mass transportation in the Czech Republic, my last couple trips have been by car. The roads are a real pleasure to drive on as there is very little traffic outside the big cities and distances are not so great either. It seems there is always another great little town and new beer just around the corner! I have to thank Doreen for driving me all around Bohemia in my quest of the perfect pint. This particular trip was only three days and two nights. It took us to ten cities and I can't even remember how many new beers I got to try. Thanks D. Oh, and gas is about 25% cheaper than in Western Europe too. :) Leave a Comment Theme: Car/Motor Home

Since Kutna Hora is not a large city, getting around is pretty simple but information about it may be hard to come by. However don?t be daunted. As you leave the station there is a good wall map to help orient you and send you into town and just across from the train station is an information center of sorts that will give you directions and sell you a nice laminated map for a reasonable price. The man here was very helpful so I recommend a stop there. There is a bus you can take from just in front of the train station which I understand will stop at the bone church and another from there into town. I also understand there is a train which goes on into the center of Kutna Hora. We missed the bus in front of the station and took a short walk of 15 min to the church and then walked on into Kutna Hora which was another 15-20 minutes. It is a pleasant walk and you get some sense of the town by going this way. After we finished wandering around we took a taxi back to the train station and it was not expensive either. Wanting to get a lot of sightseeing in I found that I was running out of time, and I found that really needed more time than walking allowed, so I hired a taxi to take me sedlec bone church about 3 kms away, and then onto the train station... I just didn't fancy yomping it.. The rates where good and the waiting rate was good... Leave a Comment Theme: Car/Motor HomePhone: local 240 012

Each tourbus-company in Prague offers halfday- or fullday excursions to Kutna Hora. They will cost around 900 Kronen and you will visit mainly the main chatedral and the bone-church. It is a bit more expensive than going by train, but might be easier, than organizing it all by yourself. Leave a Comment Theme: Bus

There is a very good trainconnection to Kutna Hora and for Sedlec ( with the bone church ) there is even a seperate station " Kutna Hora Sedlec " and it might be a good idea to leave there, as the town-centre is about 2 Km from there. Sorry, I simply could not restist to build a small bone-train with " photoshop " Leave a Comment Theme: Train
