Opened in September 1995 at the 100th anniversary of the company Laurin and Klement. For this purpose, historical buildings have been restored "old factory", located on the edge of today's modern factories. In 1997 the Museum acquired the Building Trade Fair FOR ARCH 97 Building of the Year nomination. The museum is equipped with wheelchair access. Today is one of the most visited attractions Mlada Boleslav.
The museum underlines how important ŠKODA AUTO’s history is to its current brand identity. Highlights of Czech engineering expertise are on display over an area of 1,800 m2, including around 45 automobiles, bicycles and motorcycles as well as a wide range of other exhibits from the company’s history.
Originally a wooden fort of 10 century in the second quarter of the 14th century by the Lords of Michalovice converted into a Gothic stone castle in the 15th century in late gothic castle in the middle of the 16th century under Krajíøs of Krajek rebuilt into a Renaissance chateau. After the Thirty Years War dissolute, until a hundred years later, in the years 1752 to 1783 under Joseph II. Put to military barracks that existed until 1938. The interiors of the castle are now prepared expositions of the most valuable exhibits of historical and ethnographic collections.
Opulent Renaissance Old Town Hall, sgraffito decorated with rich ornamental decoration and figure, built between 1554 - 1559, is the work of Italian architect Matteo Borgorelli. The facade is equipped with sgraffito decorated with scenes from the Old and New Testament figures as evangelists and saints. In the 2nd 19th century and in the years 1939 - 1941 the building underwent completion of the other wings and reconstruction. Part of the old town hall are two towers - higher tetrahedral tower (height gallery is 31.8 meters), the current form dates from 1779, was opened in 2001.
when taking train to Mlada Boleslav, be sure it stops at "mlada boleslav - mesto" station and be sure to get of there as well. main railway station "hlavni nadrazi" is a bit apart of the city centre (45min walking)
