Ostrava

Ostrava is in the far east of the Czech Republic, about 400 km from Prague. The city itself is not of a much tourist attraction as many other old cities in the country but it is more of industrial and business city. However, if you happened to be in the city you will find out that it is excellent place to be and experience the real life, culture and traditional life and food of this country without being ripped off as you will be often in the popular cities. Ostrava is also great area which from here you can explore the rural and mountain areas of Czech, Slovakia and Poland.

A small town in South Bohemia Pisek (means Sand) offers one rarity. Across a river Otava stands the oldest stone bridge in the Czech republic, even older than Charles bridge. If you look at it, you can see the similarity with Charles bridge. It was probably built in 13. century, we dont know exactly. In 2002 during the flood was the bridge only a bit damaged, althought only the top of statues was seen. Water took one of the statues away. Pisek has also a nice square with fancy town hall and good architecture. Historically valued is the Putimska gate, which used to be a fortification of the town. Recently new buildings were built along the river and I think it looks great
