Wonderful thing for travelling in Czech Republic is that you can find buses and trains timetables on Internet on one place. Not like in many other countries, when you need to lookup many travel services. See at the given website.

Prague Airport to Centrum via Mini Bus CEDAZ

by Jasen71

As you walk out of the arrivals hall at Prague Airport you'll find directly infront of you a line of (CEDAZ) Mini-Buses. Now.. if you want to go to the center then the price is 90 crowns, but if you wish to go to your hotel its 490 crowns.. but it the same price for 1 to 4 persons at this price.. confused? so if your hotel is nearer to the centrum then go centrum, but if you don't know the city and have lots of luggage then go for the door to door service.. A hotel taxi is about 680 crowns,,

Czech map site

by Cheff

For those planning their itineraries in Czech Republic, the site www.mapy.cz would be very useful. It has map and route planner sections. In the map section a destination can be found by its address or location. There is also a possibility to show on the map gas stations, restaurants, hospitals, etc.The only problem with this site is that it has no English interface (at least I haven't found it). Everything is in Czech, at it makes site navigation a bit more difficult.

TRAIN

by Richmond

TrainIt is easy to get to the Czech Republic from all major European cities by train. Remember, in summer the international trains tend to be full and you should book your seat at least a few weeks ahead. Most international trains arrive at Praha Hlavni Nadrazi (Main Station). A few go to Praha Holesovice or to Praha Smichov or to Praha Masarykovo Nadrazi. All these stations have metro stops and are easy accessible. The best facilities has the Main Station. There is exchange office, accommodation agency, showers, left-luggage office, day-use lockers, fast food.If you arrive in the middle of the night without a hotel reservation, store your bags and take a long walk inside until the sun rises. Be careful! Stations are magnet for pickpockets, crazies and at night it is a bad place. Do not walk outside the stations. The parks in front of are dangerous at night! Also do not take a taxi from...

Ruzyne Airport - PRG

by Richmond

Prague is connected worldwide by at least two dozen international carriers, including CSA (Ceske aerolinie), the old state-run airline. The airport called Ruzyne is located on the northwest edge of the city. In the Arrival Terminal find post office, bank and exchange counters, car rental agencies counters, AVE accommodation agency counter and restaurant. In the Departure Terminal are located shops, restaurants, fast food and airline agencies counters. To reach the city center use the cars, shuttle vans or buses leaving the airport from in front of the Arrival Terminal: FIX runs cars from the airport to any place in the city. Cars are easy recognized as Volkswagen Passat sedans with Visa Credit Card ad on the door. Driver will charge you fix price for a ride to the city (from 120 to 770 Kc, according to the city zone). All cars have air condition and are fast and comfortable. CEDAZ runs...

Getting around by car

by Leipzig

First-class roads in the Czech Republic generally have West European standards. However, on side roads drivers should be prepared to encounter uneven surfaces, irregular lane markings, and sign placements that are not clear.Maximum Speeds:For cars traveling outside city limits, a maximum speed of 90 km/h applies. Within city limits, the speed is 50 km/h.City limits are clearly marked by signs (white rectangle with town name). On freeways, a speed of 130 km/h is prescribed.A road usage tax sticker is required to drive legally on major highways!

Metro, subway, underground...

by musbars

Prague's underground system is clean, comfortable, cheap and easy to navigate. There are only three lines which make everything much simpler than in some cities. What can be a little confusing is deciding which staircase or escalator to use to descend to your required platform, especially so in stations which serve as an interchange for two lines. We never took the wrong train but we did bicker between the two of us about who was right!

Metro

by cas_twemlow

This is such an cheap / tourist friendly option to get to and from anywhere in Prague. A ticket that will last you 24hrs will cost you anout £1! It's amazingly cheap and it means that you can hope on and off the Metro, buses and trams as often as you like in 24hrs. They also sell them by the hour or 12hrs. BARGAIN!

ostrava - genreal

by Keirle

the trams and buses in ostrava are superb. if you arrive at the mosnov airport or the main railway station, you can buy a fairly good map, listing tram and bus routes all over the city. the tram and bus network is extensive and, with map in hand and the prevalence of location listings at tram and bus stops, it is easy to get anywhere. the travel is very cheap compared to the taxis, which are, like everywhere else, a sure way to throw away your money, unless it is very late at night.

Low cost flights from the UK

by sourbugger

Altthough Ryanair don't fly to Prague (the only point of entry by international flights), the place is increasingly accessible from a range of UK airports.East Midlands (EMA) airport has the most competition as both BMIbaby and Easyjet fly from there.Easyjet also have routes from Stansted, Bristol and Newcastle, whilst Bmibaby also fly from Cardiff and Manchester. You can also get flights on :Jet2 from Leeds / Bradford.FlyBe from SouthhamptonSo you now have no excuse for not finding a cheap deal to Prague & the Czech republic ! - happy hunting. When you arrive, the transfer can be a bit of a problem : see transportation tip on Prague.
