Favorite thing: Next to the church you will see this beautiful building.
It seemed to have been once the rectory.
Fondest memory: Have a look for the great facade with a sculpture on the roof and great ornaments around the windows on the upper floor.

Favorite thing: You may take a look into the church through a locked iron-gate. Photography is forbidden inside the church, but through the gate it is possible.
Fondest memory: It is alsways again amazing for me to see, that all these churches survived the communiste times obviously without any problems.

Favorite thing: The gothic church of the Holy Cross burned own and was rebuilt in gothic style again by Johann Christoph Kosch between 1746 and 1755.
Fondest memory: I am glad , I also had a look into the interior of the church - as you may see on my next picture !

Favorite thing: Most of the buildings on the main-square, including the townhall have arcades and you may walk there and do your shopping,or sit in a garden-cafe, even on a rainy day.
In all of the centre of Kadan / Kaaden you will also see beautiful flower arrangements under all of the street-lights - a fact that adds a lot to the great atmosphere of the town.
Fondest memory: As you may see by my pictures,I was lucky with a great sunny day anyway...

Favorite thing: There is a big parking on the townsquare, and plenty of spaces had been empty, as tourists mostly pass by this lovely small town.
Fondest memory: Next time I know, where to park !
What a pity, I left my car outside, as I was afraid of tiny streets in the centre and my motorhome beeing too high for some of the gates

Favorite thing: The old townwall
There once was a double townwall with several gates. This townwall may be seen still at many places.
Some towngates are left and look great like this one, just 100 meters behind the townhall.
Fondest memory: Somehow I missed the townwall, as my time was restricted , BUT I will certainly go there again

Favorite thing:
The townsquare of Kadan / Kaaden is beautifully surrounded by gothic, renaissance and baroque houses, most of them were recently restored and look simply great.
Fondest memory: Kadan / Kaaden is not yet "touristy" at all - some of the prices are simply ridiculous for tourists - have a look for my restaurant-tip !

Favorite thing:
Kadan is a beautiful, small town, 22 km north / west of Zatek.
Somehow this lovely town does not seem to belong to the landscape around it, that mostly looks like on the moon because of surface mining at most places.
Fondest memory: Kadan / Kaaden makes a great place for a stop-over !
