Take a walk through the long arcades on the main square of Telc - the longest part without interruption is about 500 meters long, and wide enough to be party used as a terrace for a restaurant or a place to offer goods ahead of the shops.
And of course you may do your shopping easily also during the rain and snow and on a hot day walking there is much more comfortable than out on the hot square.
In the back-ground of my pic : the tower of the Holy Ghost Church, with the tower you may climb up !

Take a closer look for this interesting building with a quite unique kind of facade.
I may imagine that more of the buildings in Telc looked that way before the big fire in 1530, and only this one was rebuilt that way and all the others got a "more modern" facade for that time beeing.
That special kind of fresco, pretending a structure of stones standing out of the wall was quite popular in Italy - especially in Genua at that time.

Have a look at this interesting building, that would certainly need a lot of restoration still.
It is also on the main square, but unfortunately the sun did not shine at this side of the square in the evening with the sun standing quite low already.
To have this house in bright sunshine, I wanted to return again in the morning on my way back ,but finally could not make it there again.
Maybe another time...

This is my favorite fountain in Telc and somehow I cannot help myself smiling when I see the golden shine of holyness on top of the sculpture's head.
It somehow reminds me of a character in a Czech farytale about a little boy beeing able to fly like a helikopter...
of course this is a serious saint and he makes a perfect pic against the row of lovely houses on main-square.

A lot of sculptures of saints may be found along your way, when you walk around the lakes close to the town-centre of Telc.
It is a pity I did not have enough time to see them all - have a look on the Telc-page of VT-member MEdelmann , he has great pics of such sculptures with the town of Telc in the background...

There are several fountains on the main square of Telc.
Unfortunately they were not completely filled with water , as for a photographer like me it would be great to get a picture with a reflection of the great buildings in the water- maybe that was due to the rather dry summer in 2004 :-((
Hopefully I will be there again after a heavy rainfall, and hopefully sunshine at the same time... :-)

The tower of the Holy Spirit / ( Vez sv Ducha ) is close to the other towngate of Telc, at the opposite end of the townsquare.
Lots of steps will lead you up the tower and give you a great panorama-view, also at the surrounding lakes that you might miss otherwise completely.
You may climb up the tower
Daily 10.00-12.00a.m.
and 01.00-05.00p.m.
against a small fee.

The Holy Trinity Column is a quite usual memorial to be found in allmost each and every town and village in Czechia.
It was errected at the end of the Plague, that had killed thousands of people within a few months .
The column in Telc was recently restored and has a small park around it.
Click on my picture in order to see the fine details of the sculptures !

Make sure, you will not miss the old town-well of Telc, at the rather end of the town-square .
Just imagine the medieval times, when all the water for the cooking and washing had to be taken in jugs and cans to the private homes of the people.
Today it might be out of function, but of course it still is an important sight for modern tourists and adds a lot to the great historic atmosphere of Telc.

TELC AND THE BEAUTIFUL TOWN SQUARE!

Telc is a UNESCO heritage listed Town. Good came from bad for Telc. You see, in 1530, most of the Town was burnt to the ground by a terrible Fire.
