Crowd at the Charles Bridge, Prague by hopang Beware of pickpockets especially at crowded places like the Charles Bridge, Town Hall Square, Wenceslas Square and various concert halls where pickpockets are very common every day! Don't carry your travelling bag behind your back as depicted in our photo above by some foreign tourists. The best way is to carry it in front of you so that you are aware of what is going on in front of you. Don't put all your money in a wallet in one pocket and bring only enough money for the day! Leave your passport at hotel's safe depost box. Leave a Comment

by GrantBoone In and around the main train station you could be approached by what are known as Hawkers. These people will claim to be able to find you very cheap accomodation for the night. Be very wary of these people and when possible always go through official tourist centres. Leave a Comment

Traffic ticket by Zajem On Feb 1st 2006 I was in hurry going by car to work - I drove by 73 km/h instead of 50km/h (in a village) and, of course, was stopped by Police. How my speeding ticket given by Czech traffic Police looks like you can see in the pic. Don't have yours, please! More info about the traffic in my country you can read in my Trasportation tips for Czech Republic. Leave a Comment

Vicoria Bitter car ? by sourbugger Traffic cops are very keen to get their pound of flesh out of foriegn drivers. Speed traps are especially common at the entrance to towns when the speed limit reduces quickly. I was caught outside Marianske Lazne, but as the two cops who came over were a stunning blonde and brunette with guns in white holsters and skirts that were I'm sure well above the knee, I almost (let's face it I did) enjoy the experience - much to my wife´s disgust. Seven quid later I was on my way. Just remember to be nice and smile - it's not going to cost you an arm and a leg, especially if you insist on a receipt. Also be careful of making a U-turn on a major road and entering a pedestrian zone (the sign is not obvious). I wriggled out of it on those occasions, but I'm not banking on it again. Leave a Comment

Gratutitous picture of a well-endowed hooker by sourbugger Northern Czech republic must have thousand of hookers all over the roads, or rather on the verges. They are obviously satisfying a large amount of trade - mainly from Germany. It's all somewhat sad - especially when you consider the age some of the girls must be. The only real danger is that the eyes of the driver in front may be averted for rather obvious reasons - or your own if you really must look a busty blonde in a pair of pink hotpants at 8.30 AM in the morning. As the song goes...keep your eyes on the road John..... Leave a Comment

heaven for stealers by tina0880 During the day you should take care of your stuff because there are some groups who like to steal from toursits.Very important thing is that they look like tourists and they wear expensive clothes...Especially take care when there is a lot of people around you...Don't talk to strangers...... Other thing is that at night there are drug dillers on the streets and they come to you and ask you if you wanna buy joint or some other drug...My advice is just to ignore them...It's very interesting that they ask you almost in front of police...Policemen walk around but they "don't see them".... Be careful

(This risk is most relevant in Prague, but could potentially apply in some other Czech cities as well) Taxis! Unfortunately, there are plenty of dishonest taxi drivers in Prague. The best general advice is to never pick a taxi that stands still in the street somewhere waiting for a customer (if they just sit and wait, they are likely the ones that make up for infrequent customers by ripping off the ones they do get). Instead, always pick one of them that cruises by you in the street with their sign lighted up. Always make sure that the meter is started when you roll away, and check that the price isn't ticking away too rapidly. Depending on the length of your trip, a downtown ride should never cost more than, say, 80-200 Czech crowns, otherwise you are being ripped off. Leave a Comment

by Svetobeznik CRIME INFORMATION: The Czech Republic has a low rate of violent crime. However, there has been a dramatic increase in street crime, particularly pickpocketing, especially in major tourist areas in Prague and on public transportation. Visitors should be alert to the potential for substantial overcharging by taxis, particularly in areas frequented by tourists. The loss or theft abroad of a passport should be reported immediately to the local police and to your nearest embassy or consulate. Leave a Comment

by prazacek Czech Republic has very low rate of crime, but it doesn't mean that it's no crime there. As in every other country, Czech Republic has burglars, pocket thieves (especially in tourist destinations) and cheaters. In case of any problem call 155 (police). Leave a Comment

Pick pockets and people trying to sell you phony money. This is mostly around the train station and bus stops. It is expensive, but only use certified exchange booths. The beer is cheap anyway. Leave a Comment
