Be vary protective of your belongings when using the public transportation. i.e. metro, trams, trolley buses and buses. In crowded places it is easy for someone to unzip your bag without you knowing, believe me I know. Make sure that you have all your valuables infront where you can see them.Foods, most of the food is good, but I must warn you some of it is sick. Not that it will make you sick it's just not something you would see on the menu at Denny's. Avoid Oskvarky (rolled up lard balls) Jiternice (stiffed pig intestine) tlacejnka (a clear jellotine substance with no real flavor with pieces of meat suspended in the matrix)
If you arrive (or leave) by train don't sit on the grass outside the station. I'm not joking. My advice is to spend as little time near the station as possible, your stuck between the police and the people they're policing.
If you take the train to Cesky Krumlov, keep in mind the train station is a long way from the old town. It makes sense to take the bus into town for about 25 cents US, or take a taxi right to your hotel for about $2 USD.

We found the whole place to be safe and efficient. The taxi drivers of Prague have a terrible reputation, but who needs them when you've got such a good Metro system? Be as careful in the big train stations as you would be any where else. They seem to house a large population of addled or desperate people, some of whom give signs of resenting tourists who are seen as rich exploiters. Some panhandlers are very persistent.
One thing to watch out for is the driving habits of Czech people. The countryside is typically quite hilly, so one would think that cautious driving would be in order. As the Czechs see it, though, it's just an excuse to go faster, and drive more recklessly! Don't be surprised to be passed going up a hill, or around a sharp curve. If someone pulls out to pass you, it's expected that you'll move over to the shoulder to give them more room. Don't get nervous, but don't bring back Czech driving habits back home with you!
As I was leaving a club, two rather unattractive women came up to me and tried to, well, you know. they kept saying to me in German, Kom zu ficken, and tried to get me down an alley, all the while trying to unzip my flies and feel for my money. They weren't getting a thing, but it was only seconds before six other men suddenly appeared from nowhere. Nice trick? My mate got ready to run. However, that is where it ended, cos I told them all to get stuffed, but it could have been worse. i do feel though, that if that had been Paris, or Rome, or London, in fact anywhere in western Europe, I'd have been severly mugged. But here, as happened in a similar incident in Poland, they just backed off. Strange, but lucky. You have to watch your pockets here.
The typical risk of pickpocketing. One of my group got her wallet taken from a fanny pack she was wearing (zipped up) while we were on the metro. She never felt a thing.I never wear fanny packs. Rather, I use a handbag that I can wear diagonally across my body. I try to keep my hands on it as much as possible but, of course, nothing is foolproof. I also use a pouch that I wear around my neck to carry a credit card and some cash so that all my currency isn't in one place. As much as pickpocketing is nasty, at least one is rarely subjected to violent crime.
Even that time (in 1985) policemen were keen on collecting money on the road. But they were polite and gave tickets, too.

They had invaded the city with their noisy drums and were lying all around with dirty clothes.
