Near Rodhuset or town hall you see the fountain called 'Agnethe og Havmanden' . You can relax and spend a few min. near by and watch the busy Aarhus life.
Contrary to the fairy tale of the little mermaid, here a woman falls in love with a Merman (?)!

Bus number 19 or 16 would take you in five mintes to the sea-side forest where it just pleasant to walk on the white sand and walk in very nicely maintained Danish forest. In summertime bring your own basking and berbecue stuff and enjoy it for free!

Lake Brabrand is situated west of Århus, partly surrounded by the suburbs. It is a shallow lake (size: 145 ha) run through by Århus river. Most of the lake is surrounded by large areas of reeds and meadows, as well as several small forests and willow scrubs.

In my stay in Aarhus walking in the forest was one of the favorit things to do. Since the forests are so nicely maintained..and Denmark, like other Scandinavian countries is ligtly populated, so you can have your own moments. To have a walk take bus no.6 direction Moesgård museum. A good idea is to combine the Moesgård museum, beach and forest.

View of the Catholic Church (Denmark is largely a Luthern country which is the official religion like all other Scandinavian states) on the right and rail station at the end. This street has recently been (2002/2003) renovated.

This is the view of 'Lille Torv' or the Small Square where there are quite a few canal-side cafe -- could be Aarhus version of 'Nyhavn' in Copenhagen always crowded with young people. Alos the upper-end supermarket 'Magasin' is located here.

Just adjacant to the old town museum, is Botanisk Hav or Botanical garden... perfect for a walk or sun. Its possibly be one of your highlights in Aarhus if you stay in Aarhus more than a couple of days.

The viking house has been brought here from the middle of Jutland and placed by the Moesgård Museum. The house is open as long as the museum is open and its free to go and look inside. Otherwise its also ok to come and see it from outside any time you feel like without paying for it!

This bird fountain with a stone in its mouth has been relocated here with a sitting arrangement around it. You may also like to bite your in the sun ice-cream like the locals and watch the people walking by .

Coming out of the rail station what you would see is probably this street but from the opposit direction. This street leads you to the pedestrian zone... and hopefully also some good lunch buffet deal if you walk around a bit! There is a McDonalds in several yards from this spot (close to Salling supermarket).
