We started our cycle-tour at Strandskovenscamping but you can start it on every place or village alongside the route.
From Standskovenscamping we cycled east, towards Tranebjerg, only 3 km away. In Tranebjerg follow the signs Kolby and cycle south. We made a small stop in Permelille, and visit the Samsø Gårdbutik. Just outside Permelille you can see the white church of Kolby kirke.
On the crossing near the church follow the sign Vesborg Fyr. Outside kolby Kirke the lighthouse is seen on the horizon, just a few kilometers away.
A parking place for the cars and bycycles is on the right hand and it is just a 100m walk to the lighthouse.

Next to the lighthouse is a small shop and cafe. Just for a nice cup of coffe or other fine drinks and lovely cakes.
From the lighthouse you have a magnificient view. The 10 offshore windturbines, Kolby Kirke, and the westcoast of Samsø.

From here we cycle to Brattingborg Gods, and to Ørby Kirke. On the road from Ørby Kirke to Nørreskofte you can see already the sea.
From Nørreskofte to Ballen you have a nice view on the sea.
In Ballen harbour we make another stop. There are some nice terraces with a look over the many boats.
From Ballen we took the road next to the sea back to Strandskovenscamping and end our tour.

    DYRET, Mountain of Odin

by janvanommen Written Jun 30, 2011

On the southern part of Samsø, Between Onsbjerg and Tanderup lies Dyret.
Dyret rises 51 meters above the ground and is thus the highest point of th
    souterhn part of Samsø.

And because of it´s hight, you have here also fabulous views.

In pagan times however, people called Dyret, the mountain of Odin.
Which has given name to the village of Onsbjerg.
As it was a taboo to Mention Odin by name the locals decided
    to name it Dyret.

During Second World War, the German soldiers had an observationpost on the hill.
Now Dyret has been a gathering point for local meetings.

There is access from to the hill from the roads on the east and the west side.
But the best way up is on the east side.
A sign marks the footpath uphill, and there is room to park your car alongside
    the road.

A few kilometers northeast of Besser, you will find a 5 kilometers long reef.
The reef is bounding Stavns Fjord, and is so an extraordinary bird´s territory.

That´s why Besser Rev is closed during the breeding season from 1 april untill the 15th of july.

You can hike to the end of the reef, and make a stopover at Hønsepold, were you can
    see whole Stavns Fjord.

Further out along the reef you will find an entranchement from the England wars.
From here you can see the strong currant waters of Kyholm.

But before you go walking the reef you have to make a stopover by the tourist information
    to get a tide table.
That´s because you have to cross Draget in the beginning, and there is a risk of
    flooding during high tide!!
