What a difference when the sun shines!

In my first two times in Ronne the weather was cloudy and rainy, and the city looked sad and cold. In my third presence the sun finnaly joined us, and everything became brighter. The colourful old quarter is very nice, quiet and clean, with flowers here and there adding some life to the scene. The quarter is smal and easy to visit.

Ronne - Denmark

Inland and by the church, the unusual location for the lighthouse is easy to understand - the port is there, adjacent to town.

It may be considered a landmark, since behind it unfolds the beautiful old Ronne's quarters.

One of the larger old buildings in the old town centre is the beautiful mail post office. It is a large brick building with decoration and the seal of the island below the roof. In front is the little park and the square of Lille Torv.

Lille Torv

The second square is closer to the old town of Rønne and gives more of the old charm of the town. A park is situated in the middle of the square and the main post office is towards the end. Several cafes and shops surround the square.

Store Torv

The larges square in the city of Rønne is Store Torv. The square accommodates a large parking area and is lined by bars, restaurants and cafes as wells shops and banks. It is a good orientation point to the centre of town.

The lighthouse dating back to 1880 is close to the new modern port of Rønne. In the past when the port was less commercial this was the guiding light through the Baltic Ocean and to the entrance of the port of Rønne.

Erichsens Gård is located in Laksegade. It is a museum consisting of a house and garden depicting an upper-class citizen’s home as it appeared in the last half or the 19th century. A great view into the daily life of people living on the island some 200 years ago.

The oldest building in Rønne is at Talbodgade 1 situated near the harbour and was originally constructed as a warehouse for storing provisions for the Royal Navy. The plank doors are believed to originate from Hammershus.

Hjorths Factory - Bornholm Ceramics Museum

Yet another famous Bornholm house, this one with a ceramics workshop and various exhibitions and activities. Again, I have not had time to visit but only passed by the house once. Their website is in Danish only, but most of you should be able to see the opening hours under "Åbningstider" (closed Sundays apart from in July-August).
