 | Frederiksberg Kommune Things To Do | Tips 1 - 8 of 8 | | Frederiksberg Park is one of Copenhagen's Largest parks. It is about 300-year-old-park and still very famous among Danes. It's full of people every weekend, even during the winter. Great to walk around, to have sun baths or just to have a picnic on the grass:) Leave a Comment Address: 32, Roskildevej, Frederiksberg Park

Frederiksberg Town Hall was built during the years 1942-53. If you stay for a longer time at Frederiksberg Kommune, Frederiksberg Town Hall is that place where you have to go for to register. All working people are kind and glad to help you there. Leave a Comment Address: 1-3, Smallegade

The Botanical gardens of the Royal Danish Veterinary and Agricultural University (RVAU) were laid out in 1858 - concurrently with the building of the actual university. There are many various flowers, brushes and trees. In spring the garden is in blooms. Leave a Comment Address: 17-19 Bulowsvej

If this isn't a Frederiksberg institution it should be. This tiny pub, just up the road from the town hall, is doubly aptly named, being both small and on Smallegade and makes for a perfect drop-in centre for those of us who appreciate a proper bar. I've only dropped in once for a quick lunchtime beer (that turned into 5!!) and immediately felt at home, passing the time of day with the couple of regulars present and Jorgen, our barman of the day - very Hyggelig! Not only a great little pub but at 16DKK for a beer one of the cheapest! Definitely due for a revisit! Nope you haven't misread the title! This is the famous Vinstue 90 on Gammel Kongevej which specialises in "SLOW BEER!". The beer here, made by Carlsberg , is meticulously poured to produce a smooth creamy and pleasantly unchilled draught and takes about 20 minutes, its' head resembling one of those "Mr Softy" ice-cream cones that I remember from my childhood - I don't know if they still do these (ooops but that's a digression) but back to the beer: The system here is to order your beers and then also order a bottle of one of their excellent selection of special beers (mostly from local microbreweries) to sip whilst you await the main event. As you can imagine this is a pretty laid-back sort of a bar, friendly staff and locals and definitely well worth a visit, yep a John bar! Leave a Comment Address: Gammel Kongevej 90, FredriksbergPhone: 33 31 84 90Directions: Gammel Kongevej is the street that heads west (at the end of the lakes) going from Vesterport Station and 90 is about halfway down it.Website: www.vinstue90.dk

Copenhagen Zoo is situated in Frederiksberg, which is a part of Copenhagen. The zoo is one of the oldest in Europe, and was founded in 1859 as a private institution. Niels Kjærbølling decided after a visit to Berlin Zoo, that Copenhagen should have a place like that too. He was given a small piece of land in the huge garden that belonged to Frederiksberg Castle, who is next door to the Zoo. He soon opened his new Zoo, which was indeed very little, just 4000 square meters. Here he showed of a not very impressive collection of animals: Eagles, Owels, hens, ducks, rabbits, a fox in a chain, a seal in a bathtub and a turtle in a bucket. Besides the live animals, visitors could admire Kjærbølling’s private collection of stuffed animals. Today the Zoo is much bigger, about 11 hectares, but it is still a small place compared to some of the big Zoos around the world. What the Zoo lacks in size it has in charm. The Zoo have some old and charming buildings, among these are the 50 meter high wooden tower, build in 1905. This can be climbed (a 5-kroner coin is needed to enter), and since the Zoo is placed on a hill, the views of Copenhagen and surroundings are great. The Zoo is still undergoing development. The opinion about keeping animals captured has changed. The Zoo is constantly making new facilities for the animals; recently the giraffes got a new house and were placed on an African savanna with other African animals. This year the Zoo is building a new place for the elephants. The elephants have a high status in this Zoo, and the architect behind the new facilities is the famous Norman Foster. The Zoo is a nice and cozy place to walk around and learn more about animals and just relax.
