The cutest, yet most dramatic, church art I've ever seen. We were on a field day at work, studying Sealand nature, when the locals amongst us decided it was time for us to see nature as art as well, and took us here. We weren't disappointed, and the elephant quickly became everyone's favourite. Look at how medieval Danes thought of the animal! :-) They had heard something about a huge trumpet and that it was used by foreign people to ride on, and this is what they painted! Elephant and riders, hunting the (devil) wild boar.
The church is from the 12th century originally, but with several later alterations, so it is the Ship which is that old today. The vaults are from 1325 and onwards, which is when the famous chalk paintings were first started. 1475 saw the tower built. You can see the exterior in my "Transportation" tip.
