Blixen is the Danish author portraited by Meryl Streep in "Out of Africa". She lived in Africa for 17 years until moving back to her birth house, here on Zealand. What you can see today is the rooms where she wrote, and gardens, and there is also an archive and strong links to the Blixen museum in Nairobi.

The Jagt and Skovbrugsmuseum has forestry and farming machines from all ages, and an exhibition on hunting in Denmark from the stone age. It is in fact one of the biggest museums of its kind in Europe. It is also situated in the farm buildings of former Hirschholm Castle (a smaller castle belonging to Hørsholm Castle) and close to its tranquil park. Nice cafe and museum shop.
Hørsholm Castle was itself huge and splendid in its days, but torn down in the 18th century after a love affair between the Queen and the Court Doctor. You can learn more about this drama, and about Hørsholm archaeology in the adjacent Hørsholm Museum.

This is the national Danish tree collection and it has hundreds of different trees in its park landscape. Because it is a working area, where they look at how a new type of tree adapts to the Danish climate (sometimes too fast for the natural Danish tree species), it is not always open (although normally 9-17 when it IS) so better call in advance or check with the tourist office.

A nice harbour, summertime full of yachts and with cosy restaurants, overlooking the Swedish coast across the water. As I have no pictures of it, see their informative website.
