  • The palace of Titania - a very special...

Look at this very special dollhouse: Titania's Palace is a dollhouse that a british Officer named Sir Neville Wilkinson had built for his daughter, who wanted to have a "real palace" for Titania, the queen of the elfs. It took him 15 years to build this palace that consists now of 3000 parts and there is even a chapel with a fully functional organ...

  • Inside the palace of Egeskov

Dont miss to take a look also inside the great palace of Egeskov: a part of the Slot is still inhabited but a large part is also open for visitors and furnished with old furniture of the 18th,19th and early 20th century.I think it was really worth the extra entrancefee of about 50 DKR (= ca. 7 Euros) that I had to pay for seeing the castle-interior...

  • The Museum of Horse-drawn Vehicles

When you take a closer look at early automobiles, you will see a lot of similarities between horse-carriages and the early cars. You will find the Egeskov-Museum of Horse-drawn Vehicles next to the Museum of Agriculture inside a large straw-thatched, half-timbered house, by the lake and between the castle and the car-museum.My favorite exhibit here...

  • Motorcycle Museum

I hoped to see something beautiful amongst the motorbikes in this museum, not being particularly interested in the engines themselves. I was not disappointed and kitan was in seventh heaven. The museum was bigger than I thought, taking up more than one lenght of a big barn, and there is also a loft with more unusual stuff. There are motorbikes from...

  • Ye olde Danish shop

The old shop is housed in the motorcycle museum and has all those old things you expect a shop to have, such as sweets, pots and pans, drink bottles and more. All in old fashioned surroundings with the typical old commercial wall plates, advertising tobacco, cocoa and such.

  • Aviation and Car Museum

This museum was set up in 1967 and houses a wealth of old cars. Not as many planes but those that are there are impressive. My favourite things were a sweet old campervan used by a Danish family to see Europe in, and the bike with an armchair attached to it!

  • Tree top walk

This is something I had not seen since a visit to Belgian Plankendael Zoo. Here, it is not as long a walk in the trees (100 metres) as there, but nevertheless fun unless you end up next to a bunch of school kids who insist on breaking the rules and hop and run across the bridges. After all, you are 15 metres up in the tree tops...

  • Castle gardens

The grounds are huge, and there are various gardens, especially in the area surrounding the castle where you will find rose beds and a French garden with trees and hedges cut in various shapes. There is also a Fuchsia garden with lots of fuchsias in bloom summertime. The Kitchen garden shows herbs and plants needed for a huge farm life and is...

  • Bamboo maze

The castle grounds include a beech maze, and this has to be kept short to survive, which is why a bamboo maze was created closer to the stables some decades ago as a copy. This could be the world's biggest maze and is in any case huge. There is a tower on top of it so that parents can aid their lost children :)))

  • Carriage and Farming Museum

Since farming has played a huge part in Egeskov's history, it is only natural that there should be a museum displaying old tools for everything that went on on a farm. Half the old stables is dedicated to this, showing pots and pans, woodwork tools, ploughs and so on, whilst the other half is made up of a collection of great carriages, including a...

  • Egeskov Castle

Egeskov is a beautiful Renaissance castle which was finished in 1554. It was built by Frands Brockenhuus who had married into the family which owned a farm here. In the unruly days, it was important to build not just a palace but a stronghold that could withstand religious feuds and such, and Egeskov in fact has a double wall inside, so that it is...

The castle also has some paintings on display inside. Many different parts of this castle and park has different histories to tell. On the topmost floor, for instance, there is a story of doll which, if touched, can destroy the castle. Good try to make it as a fairytale topic. The bamboo maze, that lies in the park is said to be the worlds largest...

You will find several boxes next to the large car-parking of Egeskov and these boxes might mainly be ment for motorbikers and cyclers in order to savely store their luggage, while exploring Egeskov castle & park.
You need a danish coin of 20DKR as a deposit for the key and will get it back again at the end.
