Fyn Off The Beaten Path

The great thing about Funen is that it is central enough to visit most other parts of Denmark from.
On our last Sunday,we re-crossed the Lillebaelt Bridge into Jutland and headed for Legoland. I was a bit sceptical about this but my husband and son, big children both, overruled me. I have to admit I enjoyed it though and as a day out it was most entertaining. Legoland, being a little microcosm of the world, we searched in vain for Ireland. However after seeing a rather quaint representation of Scotland, involving a pub and a whiskey truck, we were kind of glad to be spared the prospect of Lego Leprechauns. What we found most entertaining were the rubbish bins that spoke when you put your rubbish in. Now that was something we definitely don't have at home. Middelfart is 70kms from Billund so the journey wasn't too long. Even if you don't have a child with you, this is such a Danish institution that it would be a shame to miss it.
A word of warning: Take really good note of where EXACTLY you have parked your car, because emerging exhausted at 5.00pm and searching among thousands of cars is most definitely not conducive to family harmony.
