It is quite easy to drive to Odense, from Germany and also from Aarhus you may drive all of the distance on the highway. When arriving from Kopenhagen you may also take the highway and cross the sea on top of one of the largest bridges in Europe. That was different in 1964, when we had been there with our old Ford Cortina, me and my 4 brothers in the back seat of the car and a lot of luggage, tents and camping-gear in the trailer and on top of the car.... the city of bikes by barrikello Odense is the capital of cycling in Denmark. Bike tracks are everywhere and often is necessary for pedestrians to give way to them. Just in the center there's a "bike totem" where every bike passing by is counted. 3 millions bikes pass at this "bike checkpoint" every year, averagely more than 8 thousand per day. It's an easy train ride from Kopenhagen to Odense and it takes about 1.5 hrs. A single trip costs about 28 euro. The best tip is to make seat reservations (which you can do up until the train leaves) at the ticket counter. It's definitely worth the small extra cost if you want a seat. Leave a Comment

We had a guided tour around Odense but for the most senior one of us, a cycletaxi was arranged. The price is (2007): - 20 DKK starting fee (2,70 EURO ) - 3 DKK per minute (0,40 EURO) Leave a Comment

The front of the trainstation-center by Dee22 If you go to Odense by train or bus, this is where you'll arrive. 'Odense Banegaardcenter' - the trainstation. You can come here from both sides of Denmark, and with both the 'nationwide-trains' (Intercity) or the regional trains (that can take you to cities on the Island, Fyn). You'll also find the main-staion for the local busses (bybusser) and the 'regional-busses' (rutebiler) here. The local busses have about 10 different lines around the city, and all but one goes through here on their way from one end-station to another. With the 'regional-busses' you can go to almost all other cities on Fyn. You can also easily get a cap/taxi from here! The trainstation-center includes a lot of shops or services: Bio City (the 'main' cinema in Odense) MacDonalds restaurant Blockbuster movies (for rent) Internet cafe Solarium Baker's shop Gift shops Music store Pub DSB restaurant Ticket sales/information Baresso coffee Big Library (the main library in Odense) Police station Womens hairdresser Womans clothes shop Flowershop Food market Travel 'shop' Sunset restaurant (fastfood) Conference rooms Toilets ...and more. From the trainstation you'll have a five-minute walk to the center of the city! Leave a Comment

by Sjalen Odense is easy to get to by train since it is along the main line between Copenhagen and the Jutland peninsula. This means plenty of trains, both high speed and regional, throughout the day. You can also get night trains to Odense from Germany via Flensburg. Leave a Comment

Odense is situated on the island of Fyn. It's easy to get there by car, there are bridges over there from whereever you stay in Denmark. And the distances are really short. The price to cross the bridge from Sjaelland was amazingly expensive. Leave a Comment Theme: Other

Although its lost some of its connections as a consequence of the new bus terminal at the OBC, Flakhaven still has four bus-routes passing though, and it is the closest busstop to both the city hall and the cathedral of Saint Canute. Furthermore the south and westbound busses stop right outside the doors of Magasin one of Odenses biggest Department Stores.

The station is located some 3-4 km from OBC and is located between Odense University Hospital and Odense Zoo. There is a platform and a ticket vending machine. Access to the station from the O2 circular road by taking the stairs. Trains go to Odense (OBC) and in the direction of Svendborg. No car parking is possible right by the station, but some options exist in the nearby area. It takes 4 minutes to get to OBC.

The local airport in Odense is located some 10 km north of downtown Odense. Although the airports landing strip has recently been expanded the airport is still coming out of the mothballed state that it has been in since 1999 where Storebæltsbroen (The great belt brigde) opened, and the daily flights to Copenhagen became obsolete. However currently there are weekly flights to Northern Italy (Umbria), Nimes in France, and Burges in Bulgaria. And furthermore there are possibly new cheap-flights in sight, these however are still on the drawingboard.
