When you have a car it is quite easy to get to Svendborg and/or Valdemar's Slot: You simply take the main-road from Odense, this road is partly even built like a highway and the total drivingtime from Odense is less than 60 minutes.
As soon as you arrive at Valdemars Slot you might wonder whether you will be able to go all the way through the castle, when you have an extra-high motorhome like I do.
About 500 meters from the Slot you will get to the signpost that you see in my main photo here : Only for vehicles less wide than 2,2 meters and less high than 2,4m.
That will apply only for the entry of the castle-gates, BUT there will be a large car-parking in front of the gate as well, so dont worry !
This link gets you to a map of Denmark
showing all currant roads with construction-works going on !

There is a line operating from Odense to Svendborg. There are trains on a regular basis, and compared to the average danish regional trains they are of quite good standard.

Valdemars Slot is an interesting castle a bit outside of Svendborg. It is a pity that photography was forbidden INside the castle !

Svendborg is quite far south on the island of Funen, which makes it an ideal starting point for ferries to the smaller islands. The town itself is quite picturesque, and is not a bad place at all to...
