In its grand days the castle needed an enormous amount of staff. It was essentially a small community that kept everything up and running. In the corridor towards the servants quarters, there were posters to explain how many people were needed for housekeeping, gamekeeping, the grounds, teachers for the school, people that worked in the castle chapel, etc. etc.

Unfortunately, we couldn't make photo's in the state rooms in the castle. But there was nobody in the cellar kitchen when I was there and I photographed to my hearts delight. Kitchens have my interest anyway and nothing can be damaged by shooting pics there.
