A little to the west of Vindeby is Vindebyoere a small piece of land jutting into the sea. This is where you find Vindebyoere Camping.
You can go for walks on Skansen (the tip of Vindebyoere). Sometimes there are sheep out there, so remember to close the gate on the beach.
Each St. Hans (June 23rd) there is a big bonfire (burning of the witch) down there - like there is every else in Denmark on that day.
The small ship Helge (very popular with tourists and me) moors here on its trip around the islands near Svendborg.

Underneath the Svendborgsund bridge to Svendborg is the Braten forest. It is not a very big forest, but there are benches right by the sea where you can see Iholm.
Iholm is a tiny uninhabited island in the middle of the Svendborgsund.
When I was little we used to go down and play in this forest every day. There is a small stream, and nothing is better than a stream for hours of entertainment!

In the old days before the bridge there used to be a ferry from Vindeby to Svendborg. The harbour is still there, people from Taasing have their boats there and tourists come sailing here in the summer. At the end of the pier there's a bench where you can sit and watch the small fish and crabs, the men fishing and the ferries to Aeroe and Drejoe-Skaroe go by. It is the perfect place to meet in the summer to eat ice creams and watch the beautiful sunsets behind the bridge.
The views of Svendborg are great, at that place it is probably less than 1 km across the sound.
