Ania1's General Tip

by Ania1

This summer I spent 8 days in one of the most beautiful places, I have ever seen. It was denish Island - Bornholm. I am still overwhelmed by its wild nature, people and incredible, paceful atmosphere.Bornhom is a paradise for cycling tourists, so we rented bicycles also and visited places, using winding cycle paths, crisscrossing the island.it was rare to be able to follow so many recreational stretches, cycle paths with a sea view , passing old burial mounds and historical mills, through romantic fishing hamlets and along the cliffs !According to legend , that I found in a guidebook : 'When God had finished creating Scandinavia, he was left with a little of all that was best in northern Europe. So he gathered it all and threw it into Baltic - and that is how Bornholm came about'.And so it is...:)

by stefank60

Go to Legoland. Very conveniently it is VERY close to the Airport at Billund. Legoland is pretty impressive - there is so much to see - so many lego models ranging from representations of whole cities such as Amsterdam to an Airport (which looks like it may be based on Frankfurt), Statue of Liberty (see pic), Mount Rushmore and much, much more. In addition to this there are theme park type rides.

by pixiedust157

You have to visit Odense and Copenhagen. You cab ride the busses for 11 or 12 Kroner which is about $1.50 US. People are nice and most of them speak English. There are maybe a few who don't. Well, I went to meet friends off the internet. I stayed in Sonderborg for 2 weeks but had to leave because of unforseen circumstances and spent the rest of my trip with my boyfriend in Odense. But I will always remember my New Years and Christmas. I spent Christmas with a friend and his family in Sonderborg and it was a pretty good experience. My boyfriend in Odense took me to church with him, took me to Copenhagen for the day and for the month I only spent 750 Dollars. We had a wonderful time. But remember to plan ahead. You may run into trouble so make sure you have anough money and access to a phone if you don't own a cell phone and try and make friends there if you don't want to pay for a hotel...

by Packerman

Roskilde has an excellent cathedral and Viking ship museum. Roskilde also indulges every summer in a festival for Rock-stars, but I don't know which month they host it because we were there in May. Roskilde cathedral is where several famous & royal Danes are buried including Queen Margrete pictured here. What I remember most about our trip to Denmark was the beautiful blue skies and the crisp air. The people were friendly and it seemed so safe there. I also really remember the flat unpopulated landscapes, and of course all the windmills.

Mingle with the Danes! They are the friendliest people I've ever met in my life and travels! Go out and explore the city and surrounding areas. I wondered around Copenhagen alone for four days and felt safe the entire time. I think it was one of the cleanest cities I've ever visited. I found the people to be very friendly and helpful. I stayed in a bed and breakfast outside of Copenhagen and it was lovely. I think this time around I'll stay inside the city limits.

by seancu

Go to the canal street of Nyman, or something like that. I can't remember the name exactly. It is a famous street and well publicized. on sunny days, the whole town is there enjoying a beer and the rays. lots of outdoor restraunts and the canal tours leave from here. grab a brew and sit for a while. Christiana. this is a park on the right side of town looking out from the train station. It is a sub culture like in the movies. mostly young people there. all soft drugs are legal and sold in stands, like vegetables. they have bars with great beer prices and everyone is just chilling out. there is a pond with canoers and paddleboats. its crazy. scary at first, but you soon learn that everyone there is just relaxing and having a good time. weed is terrible and i don't know about the hash or mushrooms. all i know is that there are a lot of them. this place is a must see for something a little...

Egeskov CastleEgeskov Castle,...

by karakal73

Egeskov CastleEgeskov Castle, complete with moat and drawbridge, is a Renaissance gem. Built in 1554, in the middle of a small lake, Egeskov - literally 'oak forest' - rests on a foundation of thousands of upright oak trunks. The expansive 15-hectare park surrounding the castle was designed in the mid-1700s and includes century-old privet hedges, free-roaming peacocks, a topiary and manicured English gardens. The interior has antique furnishings, grand period paintings and an abundance of hunting trophies. For those who enjoy labyrinths, take a stroll through the 200-year-old maze made of three metre high bamboo shoots. Also on the grounds is an antique car museum, which displays about 300 period cars. Located south of Odense on the island of Funen, Egeskov Castle is accessible by train and bus.
