Favorite thing: It is almost a given that when you are visiting somewhere new people want postcards!!

I found prices of the postcards varied from DKK6 or DKK20 for 4 to purchasing one at the airport for DKK10 ie: buy before you fly!!

Postage for postcards was fairly costly as well 2006 prices
Europe EU: DKK 7.50
USA & Rest of world DKK 8.50

Favorite thing: This, as a general tip, is just something that I found quite useful on my last trip to Copenhagen, where it transpired that my hotel's advertised internet access turned out to be ONE COMPUTER IN THE LOBBY!!!

At Central Station there is an automated "internet cafe", with no staff, just an easy to use bunch of machines. You pay at a central machine( one of the red ones) and receive a log-in code and password and then you can use any of the the machines, anywhere that you come across one, for up to 3 days, depending on the amount of time you purchase.

So if you are only here for a few days, just need to check, and perhaps reply, an odd email or two, then this system is as good as any - at the time of writing it costs 29 DKK for about 90 minutes, and the thing to remember is that those 90 minutes are total time over the 3 days. Yep, well useful.

I do believe there are several sites around Scandanavia and it certainly works out cheaper than most of the roaming WiFi options such as T-Mobile if you only need short daily "fixes" ;) HeHe depends on how much of an addict you really are!!!

Internet cafées

Favorite thing: There aren't that many internet cafées in Copenhagen, as most people use the internet at home or at work/school. Remember that nearly all libraries have internet, and that it is free. Many hotels and hostels also offer internet use.....................................................................................................

Here are some places. Remember that they can be closed or moved to other locations. Many of them are places where young people play computergames, but it is also possible to use the internet. If you want to find internet cafées, type in "internetcafe" at this website: http://www.krak.dk, under "find firma". Then you get a list, and you can click on the name to get a map................................................................................................................................

Fondest memory: Nørrebro:

Free internet at libraries

Favorite thing: It is possible to use the internet at all libraries free of charge. The central library of Copenhagen (Hovedbiblioteket, Krystalgade 15 (Close to the Round Tower, Rundetårnet), http://bibliotek.kk.dk/bibliotekerne/findbibliotek/hovedbiblioteket) has many computers. Only licensed users can book computers on the internet, but all users can book them from the staff, or just show up and ask for a computer. You can use for an hour at the time at no cost. Here you can see if there are computers availably: http://bibliotek.kk.dk/bibliotekerne/bookpc/hovedbiblioteket.
There are other smaller libraries in Copenhagen and they also have computers. Here you can see where they are: http://bibliotek.kk.dk/bibliotekerne/findbibliotek.

Fondest memory: There are also computers at the libraries of Frederiksberg (http://www.fkb.dk). The main library (Falkoner Plads 3) has many computers and it is located in the center of Frederiksberg, next to the metro. The addresses of the other libraries can be seen in the left column of this page: http://www.fkb.dk/page18.asp

Receiving Mail

Favorite thing: Everybody (well, almost!) likes receiving letters - I certainly do, though there are other, more modern and efficient means of communication - e-mail, phone, and such like. However, if you simply like getting letters or if you need, say, the originals or paper copies of some documents sent to you while you are on the move, you can use the poste restante service. Your best bet is to use the American Express service, which is available for free to clients - you should hold either their card or travellers cheques. They are reliable and present in all major cities.

Favorite thing: If you need to check your e-mail, visit "USE IT" at Radhusstraede 13 for free internet access. I believe they also make accomodation bookings for free and it's a great place to hang out if the rain gets too heavy. :)

The Tourist Information Centre is just north of Central Station at Bernstorffsgade 1. There you'll get free maps of the city and some other information. It was one of the few Info Centres around Europe that we could get free maps!
