Happiest people on the planet - Danes
GirlUpNorth profile photo
GirlUpNorth 30 reviews

Favorite thing: Just as a general note I'd like to say that Danish people are probably the nicest and friendliest people I've met in Europe so far! They serve customers with a smile and everywhere we went there were a lot of nice people who were helpful too. I've heard that Danish football maniacs are called "roligans" instead of "hooligans" (rolig meaning fun/funny/happy), and I can see it being true. And I also believe the fact that Danish people are the happiest people on the planet! :)

Visitors Centre

Favorite thing: When you arrive in Copenhagen, you should visit the official tourist information centre, located just a few minutes' walk from the central station, opposite the main entrance to Tivoli.

The service is very good and there are lots of brochures available about everything in and around Copenhagen. You'll also get your free citymap here.

The address: Vesterbrogade 4A.

The map with the self guided tours

Favorite thing: When visiting a new city, it's always important to have a good map! If you haven't got a map of CPH in advance, no problem, there are many places where you can get one once you arrive.
I'm sure there are maps available already at the airport, but I got mine from the train I took to the centre. It was a very good one, and it also had a map of Malmö, which was very convenient as I planned to go there as well.

I also visited the tourist information office where I got another map, which was very handy, too. There are two self guided tours mentioned in this one, in case you want to explore the city on your own.

Copenhagen - Old City

Favorite thing: Tourist office (Kobenhavns Turistinformation) Bernstorffsgade. 702 224 42, 702 224 52. April-September 9.00-24.00, October-March 9.00-17.00. Sunday-closed.

It is possible to get a tourist card "Copenhagen Card" in the office. The card is useful, if you are going to stay in the city some days. There are cards with validity on 24 or 72 hours. They entitle to unlimited access to more than 60 museums of the city, free-of-charge travel to the underground, tram and bus. At purchase of a card you receive the guidebook with a map of the city on which museums and sights which can be visited with a card are noted.

Favorite thing: Coming to Copenhagen by train or by air, a visit to Tourist Info is recommended which is located close to central railway station. Apart from receiving some fre information booklets and maps, booking for accommodation or organized tour, experience little Danish sense of design. The new tourist info has been inaugurated in recent past and has one of the remarkable functioning yet cosy interior among the European capitals.

From http://www.ctw.dk

Favorite thing: http://www.woco.dk: Wonderful Copenhagen is the official tourist organisation of Copenhagen and the surrounding area. On this site you’ll find practical information, inspiration on what to see and do in Copenhagen, and also information on transport, restaurants and accommodations. The tourist information is located across from the main entrance to Tivoli (Vesterbrogade) ------------------------------------------------

http://www.ctw.dk: Copenhagen This Week is a magazine published in English every month of the year.
It is distributed free of charge from all hotels and exhibition and conference centres, shops, restaurants and other sites.
The guide is informative and presents information on shopping, restaurants, sights, transport, events and background data. The guide also has information on cultural arrangements like music, theatre and art. Copenhagen This Week also contains city maps. The homepage is great too and here you can read the magazines with adobe reader. -----------------------------------------------------------------

http://www.aok.dk: Alt om København: Everything About Copenhagen is a site where you’ll find reviews on restaurants, cafés, bars, discos and clubs. This is the sites main feature. Most reviews are only found in Danish, but the site still provides an overview because restaurants etc are grouped into vegetarian etc. If you use the site in Danish it is possible to search for very specific terms like Indian food or cafés with easy access for disabled. The site also provides some information on accommodation and on cultural events like theater, opera and art exhibitions.

Favorite thing: Like many other big cities in Europe, you can pick up mini-cards of different sites with basic information on what its all about. On one side there is a convenient simple map to show you how to get there. In copenhagen commune information centre at City Hall square, you also see mini-cards for sights in Malmø.
