Hajbro Plads Market by starship Packing light is not always easy depending on the kind of trip you'll be taking. But the advice is still appropriate no matter where you go. Bringing along a day pack or a folding cloth bag with handles can also be a blessing to carry small items: umbrella, maps, brochures, camera equipment, snacks, and purchases you make along the way. This allows you to leave your luggage at the hotel or stored.
When we visited Copenhagen in late July, the weather was warmer than I expected. It is a good idea to pack some lighter clothing for Copenhagen such as nice looking T-shirts, and light-weight pants. People in Copenhagen may not "dress up" but their clothing is very trendy, especially their shoes. But as the weather can change quickly in Denmark (and I had previously read this fact), even in summer you should at least have a light-weight jacket. It can get quite cool in the evenings, and if there is a heavy mist in the morning it is very chilly. Good, comfortable walking shoes are indispensable. If possible, carry a small or mini-umbrella at all times. We left on a canal cruise while the sun was shining brightly and the air was warm. Suddenly we were caught in a drenching downpour and I was the only one with an umbrella. I still got very wet and then chilled. So be prepared for a weather change which can happen very quickly! For the same reason, a little sun screen may be a good idea too.
Our hotel bathroom provided dispensers for body wash & shampoo only; no lotions, shower caps or other nice amenities. If you like bar soap and a wash cloth, you probably should bring your own just in case your hotel does not provide them. I don't remember there being any water glasses in the room, so you may want to bring some disposable, 3 to 6 oz. cups. Coffee and tea-making facilities are most likely provided for in your room, but you may wish to bring additional quantities of powdered cream, sugar, Splenda or the like for your own comfort.
Scandinavia can be expensive in general, and food is no exception. If you have adequate space in your luggage, you may want to bring some small snacks such as granola bars, power bars, raisins and peanuts, hard candy or small packages of crackers for your day pack. Doing this might help you to avoid having to buy expensive fast food because you have no alternative. Leave a Comment

An umbrella is handy! by aaaarrgh Remember there is a good 'Left Luggage' office at the main railway station.
Comfortable walking shoes - Copenhagen is perfect for walking.
Packa small umbrella - the weather was beautiful but rain clouds regularly appeared from nowhere, dropped their load, then disappeared as quickly!! Before I went, I worried about whether I should buy a map. This was not problem - there are plenty of FREE maps available at the Tourist Information and other Tourist Attractions. The 'Copenhagen This Week' magazine seems best - it has three maps at different scales and an index at the back. Leave a Comment

No matter for how long you are going to stay in Copenhagen and no matter at what period of the year, the weather can change several times per day. So, even if you travel there just for a few days or a week it's necessary to have few T-shirts, one warm sweater and another light sweater, also a jacket from the rain. Good shoes are also required as you will walk a lot for sure in 'discovering' a wonderful Copenhagen :-)
Everything you need you can find in big markets either at small shops. But if you use special medicines just take it with you from home. Then you don't need to search for them and if you want to buy special medicines you'll need a receipt.
To come to Denmark without a photo camera it's a shame. So, don't forget it! But if you did, don't worry. You'll find lots of stores of photo equipment at the center of Copenhagen where you be able to buy a new photo camera;-) And it's not expensive to have your photos done. Leave a Comment

Get a sound backpack with double zips so that you can have the option to lock it.
Pack an extra pair of laces. You'll never know when those laces are gonna break when you're walking miles in them!
Get a lightweight, high meg digital camera with lots of 128mb flashcard/memory sticks. There's really no point lugging a big SLR when you are backpacking.
bring a can/bottle opener. You'll need it if you're buying canned food/ bottled beer for your meals.
Make sure you buy your Scanrail tickets before leaving for Scandinavia coz those tickets really cost over here! I was really happy to find out that most of trainrides were covered by the ticket, I only paid extra when I requested for sleepers. Leave a Comment

by shellseeker “Illum” is the name of the biggest departement store in Østergade. It is one of the most exclusive places to go shopping in all Copenhagen. At the time I was there, some floors were being redone. I especially liked the top floor with its open glass windows giving you a very good view over the roofs of the city. There are nice cafés and restaurants up there too! Mon-Thu: 10:00-19:00, Fri: 10:00-20:00, Sat: 10:00-17:00; Leave a Comment

Be sure to take a comfortable pair of walking shoes as in this city everywhere is accessible on foot. I found I walked virtually all the time I was there. Leave a Comment

The airlines are notorious for losing luggage, we all know that. Yet, there are still people who make the foolish mistake of putting valuable items in their checked luggage! The best carry-on bag is soft-sided and constructed from high-tech material. You can use it also as pillow, while you are waiting for a long time on the airport, and want to rest.
Personal need: toiletries, a change of underwear, some food, a sweater, wet wipes,
Medications, contact lens paraphernalia, asthma tools, and a little handy-pack of tissues should always go into your carry-on bag.
Do not forget a small camera and a good Travel Guide! They won't add much space or weight, and are well worth, if you are spending more time than you expected and should be still waiting.
The longer the trip, the more items, the larger the Luggage! Just remember, whatever you pack, you have to carry!
Most airlines allow you a carry-on bag and one personal item (briefcase, laptop or something like that). Pack your carry-on as if you expect your checked baggage to be lost. Choose a bag that is large enough to handle all the things you need to take, but small enough to fit the size requirements of your airline. Things like thath should be carried on your person or packed in your carry-on bag that will fit under the seat. • Small valuables: cash, credit cards, jewelry, cameras. • Critical items: medicine, keys, passport, tour vouchers, tickets. • Irreplaceable items: manuscripts, heirlooms. • Fragile items: eyeglasses, glass containers, liquids. • Personal need: toiletries, a change of underwear, some food, a sweater, wet wipes, Remember, the only way to be sure your valuables are not damaged or lost is to keep them with you.
