Right in the heart of Stroget in Amagertorv, Cafe Norden offers a cosy experience and a great way to spend your time while resting from shopping. The location couldn't get more central and the view from the windows on the first floor is magnificent. Even though it was July, the rain made us sit inside which was better because we could sit next to the window on the first floor and enjoy the view of the little fountain in the square. However, we were not so crazy about the 2 Smoothies we drank. For 70.00 DKK each (almost 10 euros!) they should have been better and tastier. We also ordered a pancake (a little more different than the usual pancakes we had in mind). It was a plain pancake with a lot of sugar added on it and some syrup. Ok, we can do that in our own kitchen and not pay 85 DKK (almost 12 euros!!!). It was also very little, 2 mouthfuls and it was gone!!! We had asked the waiter if one pancake was enough for the both of us to share and he said "yeah, sure!". I guess the Danish eat less than us, what else can we think?
Anyway, the location and the view are much better than the service and the quality of what is served there. The prices are exaggerating. It's not a place we will go back to.
One last thing, there was no notice or something that you have to go to the bar to order so we waited and waited and then called for a waiter who informed us of the Cafe's policy. Shouldn't there be a sign for tourists to see that in that cafeteria no waiters come to you and that you have to go to them?

Cafe Norden, the biggest cafe in Copenhagen is located centrally on Amagertorv. I tried to get in for a cup of coffee while it was raining, but I wasn't the only one with the same idea. The place was so crowded that I decided to go elsewhere.
I did have a look around though, and it seemed really nice. Tables also upstairs, which would be a wonderful place to have lunch and a very good place for people watching if you manage to get a window table with very comfy looking sofas.

Cafe Norden is located at the middle of the Strøget shopping street, where Kobmagergade and Strøget meets, called Amagertorv.
The cafe is nice and you can sit outside and watch the street life during summer.
Prices are, like on most bars on Strøget, rather expensive: cup of coffee from 25 - 40 DKK and beer and soda around 40- 50 DKK.

This is really a place to go for a coffee, or a beer during summer, as it is right in the middle of the walking street, and lots of people come here to rest their legs a little. The food they serve is mainly cafe food like sandwiches and soups, as well as a different special every day. They also have good brunch offers.Tastes great, but the atmosphere is cafe-like rather than restaurant style.
Favorite Dish: The tomato soup is delicious, and definitely try their home-made ice tea-tastes like a little piece of heaven :)
