Skildpadden – The Turtle is a great place to get a sandwich for lunch. Here you get your sandwich just like you want it.
The place is in the cellar of one of the old houses of the square Gråbrødretorv. The restaurant is not that big, but very charming and not like every other café or restaurant. The walls are in the vault are white and the turtle dominates the decoration.
Favorite Dish: When you enter this place you have to place your order at the counter. Here you first have to deside what bread you want (baguette; 45 kr or a foccacia; 49 kr), then you chose what meat you want and last what kind of cheese you want in your sandwich. They slice the bread and put in the things you chose and then you get to carry your nearly empty sandwich to the buffet, where you can fill all the things you desire. Chose between several salad dressings, pesto, mustard and a lot of vegetables like tomatoes, onions, dried tomatoes, olives, garlic, spring onion, cucumber, and several kind of lettuce.
At this time your sandwich will probably be so full that you can’t close it, hold it or let alone get it in your mouth (This happens to me every time I go here), so the big trick is to eat without dropping all the food on the floor.
Le Petit Tortus is a great alternative to the Mc D. Here you make your own sandwich you just chose what kind of bread and meat you like and then you fill it from a good salad buffet to your likeings.
