by Maggie_C

The Danes feel eating is a celebration and an experience to be enjoyed, and not just to fill your stomach. They love to take their time while dining...savour and enjoy every bite. They eat, talk, drink and eat some more. Don't be in a rush since a good meal can take hours to enjoy! They usually drink a beer, wine or soda with their meal and coffee is served after dinner.

Drink as much as you can at all times since1) It is fairly priced2) The locals will respect you 3) You support an economy consistently sought ruined by changing Communist governments over the past 100 years4) It will make you feel warmer (badly needed most of the year)5) The women get prettier6) The language suddenly sounds romantic

When meeting someone, a firm, brief handshake is common. Children will offer to shake your hand, and are taught to make direct eye contact with their host for the first time. Always shake a woman's hand before the hand of the gentlemen in a group situation. Please stand to shake hands with another person if you are seated. While driving, it is considered rude to make the following gesture to another driver: point your index finger at your temple and rotate it back and forth.Formal dinner parties are commonplace in Denmark, thus dress appropriately. If you are a man, you will most likely be presented with a card detailing the name of your female dining companion who will sit to your right. Upon being introduced to the woman, please escort her to the table at the appropriate time. To toast someone in Denmark, please wait for your host to begin. Then, before you sip your drink, look around...

GO TO THE BEACHESYou will love the clean beaches in Denmark. I DO. VERY MUCH. Every summer I go to our local beach by the fjord as you can see below. First picture is to give you an ideay about how nice the danish fjord they are. And next is a close look at the beach there. Tempatures of the water in the fjords are better - than by the oceans. So you can start earlier in the year to go swimming here

You will find that the hospitality from the danish people is quite unusual good. It is very easy to become close friends with the danes. Most of us speak good english and german, as that is normal stuff in school. Visitors can easily get to know those they meet and typical you will feel a heartly welcome.

Hmmm if your car breaks down (like my good old 'Jutta') don't bring it to the Godfather's garage in Ringkobing (like we did). We paid a lot of money and the car broke down on the way back from the Garage even ;). On the picture you can see Bernd doing his Godfather 'You will buy this engine' impression!
