by ClaesDenmark

A number of places there are rebuilded old houses as those the Vikings used to live in. You can actually pay - for small money - and try living a day or a week one of these places. Also you can TEST yourself in most of what the Vikings did 1000 years ago. Making food, sailing, ... name it ... the way they did way back. Feel free to come and try

by DesertRat

Most Danes under the age of 60 or 70 speak at least some English and large numbers of them are fluent. If English doesn't work, the next best bet is German; however, always start out with English. Memories of the war are long, so their response to a German is not always so receptive.

Although there is a traditional legend about the DANISH FLAG having fallen from heaven during a battle beetween the Danes and the Baltic pogans in the 13th century, it is afact a crusader's flag.First used in the arms of King Valdemar IV Atterdag(1340-1375) it became known as the Dannebrog literary meanig 'Danish cloth'It was originally square form, but the design become elongeted, and the arm of the cross at the flying end was extended. The flags of the other Schandinavian countries are derived directly or indirectly from this model,so that this distinctive form ofthe cross has become known as the Scandinavian cross. It is seen also in the flags of ICELAND,NORWAY,SWEDEN,FINNLAND.(P.S.In Hungary,Budapest is open a Museum of Flags)

People will say 'Hey' when greeting you. In Dutch we say that too but not to older people or people we don't know. It felt strange to say 'Hey' to everyone but at least we knew we did right :-)
