Nyköbing

by AndreSTGT

The capital of Falster doesn't look very attractive. The view on the Old Town is marred by ugly factory buildings, but once you're inside you will see that Nyköbing is actually quite a nice town worth a short visit. Nyköbing has the honor of having one of the worst restaurants i've ever eaten at. Avoid the Hong Kong on the main square like the plague! They pretend to offer Thai cuisine, but never heard of fish sauce and Horapa basil, instead they used black pepper, Yuck!!!

Nysted

by AndreSTGT

Nysted is a sleepy, picturesque port town in southern Lolland. Unfortunately, the beautiful moated castle which can be seen from the harbor is private property and can't be visited. Nysted's beach is small, but the nicest one i've seen in Denmark.

Læsø

by Sjalen

Læsø is an island 50 km from Göteborg in Sweden and 30 km from Frederikshavn in Denmark, which is where you catch the ferry if you haven't got your own boat. From those two places you will find tourists but otherwise the island has escaped the worst crowds. This is one of the best places in Denmark to me with long, sandy beaches, fishing harbours, cosy inns serving the fish, moors full of heather and cycle paths, and the odd Icelandic horse. What more can you want on a holiday?

Viking burial mounds

by nigelw6443

Driving through the island of Fyn is very relaxing as the scenery is very rural with rolling hills and corn fields. Dotted about the place you will find viking burial mounds and usually smack bang in the middle of someones field. This however is not a problem. Just pull over and walk across the field and then you can climb the mound or even have a wonder inside.

Skagen - the North of Denmark

by Christina1881

Skagen (the city) - and Grenen are the most northern points of Jutland (Jylland), Grenen where a thin strip of dry land sticks out into the sea - dividing the Skagerrak to the west from the Kattegat to the east. Some of the most famous painters from Denmark came from this area (P.S. Kroyer, Holger Drachmann, Michael Ancher - his wife Anne Ancher)In Skagen you are able to visit a typical open-air museeum (Skagens Fortidsminder) or the partly sand-burried church, that got covered with sand in a sandstorm in late 1700s! It is said that Skagen is one of the most beautiful places in entire Denmark.

A Danish forrest...

by Christina1881

No matter which location in Denmark you plan to visit I would suggest for you to visit one of the many forrests here.Nomatter if you come here in winter or summer there is always something beautiful and stunning about them...So look at the map and see if there isn't a forrest near your location - if you like the outdoors you dont wanna miss this!

Don't forget also the Tivoli Garden...

There are a lot of places you must going in Copenhagen, but don't forget a visit to the Tivoli garden, as it shows the familiar relax way of life of Danish people, after all it is an old reference of the city.

the coastline

by elsebeth

Almost all Danish beaches and stretches of coastline are open to the public on foot and using the beach is free. This free access has some limitations. In principle, you can get to the beach by road, path and over uncultivated areas. But you may not put your belongings or bathe closer than 50m from private residences. You may not pitch tents on the beach. Some beaches allow cars on the beach, e.g. on Fanø and between Rødhus and Løkken on the west coast of Jutland, where you can park your car on the beach while using it but may not stay overnight. Do not block roads or paths, and park as instructed. This applies especially to plantations. It is in everyone's interests that ambulances and fire engines can get through if an accident happens. Always use existing paths when climbing on cliff tops to protect the vegetation and prevent erosion. In summer, dogs must be kept on leads. Read and...

As in most places, tourists tend to stick to main streets and well-known attractions, hotels, and restaurants. It is great to walk through residential neighborhoods, see a great deal more of the daily life, and perhaps be invited in to visit with a family.
