Vikingmuseum Roskilde shows the (in)famous past

by Pavlik_NL

Intrested in the rich (viking-)past of Denmark. In Roskilde (not far from Copenhague) at the only Fjord of the country, is the Vikingskips-museet, or museumof Vikingships. Recovered (remainders) of the 'Snek' (Vikingship) can be seen and there is wide explanation about the travels and ways of living of the ancient Scandinavians.

This is in Bjerring. I was here in 1992 with a great friend of mine - Mario. We visited Berit and her friend as we thought they would show us things 'off the beaten path', but we thought wrong :-( Thats why I started to wear a helmet.

by Packerman

Helsingor has the Kronborg castle right on the straight between Denmark and Sweden. Helsingor is also a cute little city to walk around and one can also take the 20 minute ferry across the straight and step right onto Swedish soil. The Swedish soil is actually a city with an old castle keep from which you can see the Swedish city and across the straight right into Denmark. The ferry is comfortable and cheap.

Saeby - a small village just north of Aalborg and south of Skagen. They have long beaches (as they do in Denmark)and the village is really nice. They also have nightclubs that are open till 6 in the morning, then you can go to the bakeries and eat freshly made baguettes.. yummy!

The town of Lemvigcame into...

by elsebeth

The town of Lemvigcame into being during the Middle Ages, but nowadays architecture from the past 150 years predominates. The town was first mentioned in 1234. The location on the fjord as well as the layout of the town are typical of the medieval towns. Lemvig Churchis from the 13th century, and the tower was added in the 15th century. In 1935 the church was thoroughly renovated, and an onion-shaped spire was fitted on top of the tower. this spire has since been considered an indispensable feature of the town skyline, and is included in the town logo in advertising.

by maritagnes

This was a colourful Folkdance group performing at the 'Summer Market' in Höng. We spent an interesting day here, tastin traditional food, and visiting the tents demonstrating and selling various kinds of crafts, still surviving thanks to idealistic people who take care of the old knowledge. The market day also offered a guided tour at the old linen factory which used to be there.

by Kindberg37

Near my grandparents home is this wood. Per (my grandfather) and I went on a bike ride through the woods, and he showed me this great circle of rocks. It marks the graves of great men in the region. They were laid out around 4000 BC! It was great to see, and so hidden that I'm sure most people don't really know about it.

About a 15-minute drive from Myrehoj B&B is the Kalundborg area. Here you will find Vor Frue Church, the only 5-tiered church in Denmark. We took a walk around the beautiful town in the late afternoon/early evening, and were drawn in by the beauty. It was somewhat misty and overcast, but the setting was perfect. It was our last evening in Denmark.

Vesterlyng Beach is 3km from Myrehoj B&B, the place we stayed. It wasn't crowded at all, because we were there in late May. The water was still a bit too chilly to swim in, but the sun was warm and we were able to lay out.
