EVERY SUMMER THERE IS A THREE DAY ROCK SHOW IN ROSKILDE, DENMARK (AT LEAST I THINK THEY STILL HAVE IT EVERY YEAR). I SAW LOU REED, JOHNNY WINTER, AND THE ALARM, AMONG ABOUT 25 OTHER PERFORMERS. UNFORTUNATELY, I REWOUND THE ROLL OF FILM FROM THE CARLSBERG TOUR, LEFT IT IN MY CAMERA, AND THEN SHOT THE FILM AGAIN AT THE ROSKILDE CONCERT, DOUBLE EXPOSING THE FILM! HERE IS A SHOT OF THE LEAD SINGER OF THE ALARM SUPERIMPOSED ON THE CARLSBERG BEER BOTTLING LINE...

I REALLY DON'T KNOW IF CHRISTIANA IS STILL THERE. THERE WAS A LOT OF DISCONTENT AMONG THE POPULACE IN THE MID 80'S ABOUT THIS ALTERNATE COMMUNITY, WHERE HASHISH WAS PLENTIFUL, AND WHERE NONE OF THE OCCUPANTS PAID ANY TAXES. A GOOD PLACE TO GO AND OOGLE THE BIKERS AND HIPPIES.

by marko727

THE HIGHEST POINT IN DENMARK IS YDING SKOVHOJ. ELEVATION: 568 FEET (173 METERS). HERE'S MENTION OF IT FROM THE WEB: Silkesborg is noted as a health resort and a centre for the Silkeborg Langsø, a chain of lakes on the Gudenå. The surrounding well-wooded country, the heather, and the hills, including Himmelbjerget (Hill of Heaven; 482 ft [147 m]) and Yding Skovhøj (Denmark's highest point, 568 ft [173 m]), make this one of the nations most scenic and popular resort districts.

by arkadia

STRANDBYStrandby is a nice small fisher village, not far away from Frederikshavn, the main town where the ferries comes from Sweden and Norway.Still the mass tourism hasn’t reach the area, so that there is a really unique atmosphere especially during the week days, when, at 7.00 am in the morning, you can take part on the fish auction at the harbour. The harbour is the largest privately owned fishing harbour with about 50 fishing boats and yachts.North of the harbour lies one of the friendliest beaches and which continues all the way up to the Northen part of the region, to SKAGEN.The church of Strandby is quite unusual but fits in well in the fisher village. Modern architecture mixed with local tradition. The church has in fact a saddle roof in form of a fishing boat.

When driving north from Copenhagen to Helsingør, avoid the highway. The old road that runs directly along the coast is much more pleasant. A lot less traffic, less stress and a beautiful view across the Baltic Sea.

The countryside. The winding lanes, the narrow Scandinavian houses, the old windmills, the small tumuli, the Viking legends...you really feel you are somewhere special. Everywhere is so comforting and agreeable, especially in Funen and the island archipelago around Langeland, which is a perfect advertisement for relaxation. Yet there are big festivals here every summer, attracting major musical artists. Come here with a bike, or a boat even, or even hitchhike and walk. There are plenty of hostels, people are friendly, and everybody but everybody speaks English. even the cats know a few words.

by DesertRat

Most visitors tend to go to Copenhagen, stay a few days, and then head on to Sweden or Norway, so much of the rest of the country is 'off the beaten track'. Even places right on Sjaeland that are never much more than 30 minutes away from Copenhagen. So if you go, by all means get out of the Capital for a while!Photo: Frederiksborg Castle outside KØrØr, which is near HelsingØr. Built in a small lake, it is a charmer and well worth a visit.

The Island of Vejro, in the middle of Smalands Varvatten (sp?). There you ca even see copulating deer! This Island has only 20 inhabitants plus 250 yachteers who are staying there overnight in the marina. The island can be explored by feet in 1 to 2 hours. It's small but nice.
