Ribe is the oldest town of Danmark and it once also used to be its capital. The biggest building of the village is now the somehow oversized church, that has also an interesting interior. Next to it you will find the old prison, that was turned into a funny, modern hotel and there are lots of interesting halftimbered houses in Ribe and many fancy doors like in my main photo here.
The roads to Ribe are quite good and fast from Esbjerg, and when you want to drive from Germany to Esbjerg it makes sense to drive over Ribe anyway, so plan 1-2 hours for this interesting stop-over !
