Hvide Sande is a fisher port near Soendervig. We have been there to have a look at all the fishing ships and we had a lovely Danish Icecream!!!!!!

Sondervig has a lovely beach with dunes and the wild North sea. It must be even better in summer here as it was rather cold and stormy while we were here!

This is a little port town at the North Sea, south of Sondervig. Really cute place and perfect for a day trip.

We were always cooking our meals in the evening...Everyone had to do it one day.... Most times we had a lovely dinner!!!

Food is very expensive in Denmark, so we didn't bought to much fresh vegetable or fruits.....would have cost us a lot....

We spent our money on wood for our oven!!!

Favorite Dish: Red Wine was still payable!!!

Søndervig Tourist Traps

  • Ulf trying to clean the windows

When you rent a house be prepared that after leaving you will have to pay A LOT for electricity and heating (especially when you have floor heating, a sauna or a whirlpool) !!! We almost broke down and cried in the rental office - and searched for our last coins in everyone's pockets to pay the bill!!! Oh... and cleaning the windows is a pain with the salty water at the sea!!!

Unique Suggestions: Switch the floor heating in the bathroom off. Like this you save at least a bit!

Fun Alternatives: Try to use the fireplace. Ours didn't really work though. We spent lots of money on wood that never made the house any warmer ;-)

Søndervig What to Pack

Miscellaneous: If you go there by car, rent a house and plan to stay for a while - bring as much food and drink as you can. It's really expensive there. I was shocked especially about broccoli prices ;-)

Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: Bring some warm pullover if you come in winter.... The North Sea winds can be really freezing......Something against the rain is useful too...

Toiletries and Medical Supplies: While we were there there were a lot of oily parts on the beach so we ruined some trousers here! There had been the sinking of the oil tanker "Amrum" a few month ago......

Camping/Beach/Outdoor Gear: Yes there is a beach, so bring your beach equipment in summertime!

    Happy New Year!!!!

Favorite thing: Söndervig is mainly a summer resort. In wintertime not all houses are rented.... It´s a coastal resort, one of those that are very popular for German families.... You can rent whole houses with a different number of beds, just what you need!

It´s also cool, if you have a bunch of people that want to have a good time together.........

Fondest memory: Our lovely house. The price for power at the end was high, but we enjoyed a week with daily sauna visits! As thehouse was quite old, it wasn´t really warm inside.....so we always sat next to the oven in the living room playing games etc....
