It is the largest monument and one of the most popular tourist attractions in the city of Copenhagen. The Fountain was designed by Anders Bundgård in the late 19th century. Gefion Fountain was donated by Carlsberg Foundation to the city of Copenhagen on Carlsberg's 50th anniversary in the late 19th century. It was constructed in the 20th century. The North Sea has always seen much navigation and the west coast of Jutland has always been dangerous. Through the centuries many ships have suffered shipwreck here causing severe loss of life and money. Off the west coast of Jutland the biggest naval battle in history, the Battle of Jutland, took place in 1916 during World War I with a loss of almost 10.000 men in one day. One of the biggest shipwrecks of all times took place on this shore, when the two British ships of the line HMS St. George and Defence were wrecked in 1811, with a loss of 12 - 1300 men. This is the base of the museum. it had some ineteresting things inside. Old wine bottles( unopened) old photos, clothing from the ship, maps and all interesting stuff. its worth a visit if you are on the westcoast Leave a Comment

Ribe is the oldest town in Denmark and for that matter Scandinavia (or so they say) and it dates to about 700. The area of old Ribe that is now the Viking Center has been excavated by archeologist and reconstructed as best they could into that Viking trading town of the 700 and 800 hundreds. This is a center for living history where the daily life and pace of the Early Viking era is recreated with the trades the animals the living conditions and you get to join in with this Viking re-enactment. The island, which is separated from the German island of Sylt by the Lister Dyb (Lister Deep), has a wild, windswept appearance and is particularly known for its nude sunbathing, as is the German island of Sylt. Midway between Ribe and Tønder, Rømø is connected to the mainland by a 10-km causeway that passes over a panoramic marshland filled with wading sea birds and grazing sheep in summer. Exposed to the North Sea, the western edge of the island is the site of the best sandy beaches and is a magnet for windsurfers. The most popular beach area is at Lakolk on the central western coastal strip. Here the beach is under a kilometer wide. The main hamlets are on the eastern coast along a 6-km (4 miles) stretch from the causeway south to the little port of Havneby. The beaches are so big, that we had a lot of fun driving on it...... Nyhavn in Copenhagen is the best place to go for dining, entertainment, people-watching etc. and Nyhavn is also called "The longest bar in Scandinavia". Some of these bars and restaurants are open 24 hours and be prepared : this is quite an expensive place to spend your money ! Of course it is also a great place to take a look at fancy yachts and old ships docked directely there in the centre of Copenhagen. This area used to be the "new port" during the 17th century and this is where the name comes from. It used to be the red-light-area for some time before fancy restaurants were built into the lovely colorfull houses. Leave a Comment

Ribe is Denmark's oldest and best preserved town. There are very few places in Denmark where it is possible to see an entire medieval town centre with old half-timbered houses and cobblestone streets, half-timbered houses with finely carved wood-work and doors with artistic adornments. The town is full of relics from the past, but in no way is it a museum. Leave a Comment
