Car rental

by TheView

I had some troubles this summer with a other local danish car rentel service. The solution to the problem was the firm danskautorent.com it only for not danes but I/we could use it as I have a friend I know from VT visiting from Athens. When we got the car it was a Hertz rental car real good had run less then 3000 K and no problems at all. I can only recommend it. The prices are far below what you as a dane can rent a car for ("A chep" (Economy) Hertz rental car will be something like 3700 kroner for a week with 700 kilometers and extra charge beon this kilometers) We got the same classe of car for 2300 kroner with free mileage.BTW: A road trip around Denmark is about 2000 Kilometers.

Ferries

by Sjalen

Ferries is good not just for travels TO Denmark but also AROUND it. To get to Denmark by ferry, most people drive to the north German town of Puttgarden to cross to Rodby in Denmark. Here, ferries shuttle across the Fehmarn Strait in 50 minutes for most of the 24 hour day. Booking is essential in summer and around the Scandinavian holidays in February, Easter and November. These ferries also have room for the Hamburg-Copenhagen day trains onboard which makes some departures even more fully booked. If you come by train, the ferry ticket is included. There are plans to build a bridge here but that will take time still and plans are controversial as the Danish and German ferry companies employ so many people. Another alternative is to go from Travemunde to Gedser. A longer ferry crossing, this is more popular with those coming from eastern parts of Europe. Finally, the ferries from...

travel all over Denmark

by tracknfield

The transportation system in Denmark is very good. Wheather it is a train or bus you can get pretty much anywhere you want to go. I find it easier to go by train but trains do not go every where. The trains are very affortable compared as to driving by car. Every train station has a train schedule that you can get for free and will tell you when the train is coming and leaving and where within the station.

On Time!

by curiosone

We are speaking about scandinavian public service..so I don't think there are too many things to add!Trains on time, everything is clean and so on..Not so cheap(absolutely improper this word!!)but paying 3.00euro instead of 1.00euro-for example-it's not decisely a tragedy..Good trip!

Rail ticket : OrangeOutside the summer months.. you can still have discount ticket for travel between Sealand and Fyn / Jutland but, you have to book the tickets a week ahead. If you are unable to avail these discounts you are more likely to find Danish rail expensive.

FERRY - EXTERNAL

by mtncorg

Larger ferries connect Denmar with neighboring countries at many points: Sweden, Norway, Germany, England, the Shetlands, the Faeroes and Poland. You'll know when you reach international waters by the scramble for the duty-free shop for which many is the only reason for the journey.

FERRY - INTERNAL

by mtncorg

With 420 islands - 92 inhabited - not all are connected by bridge (though the Danes seem busy on that point having united Funen and Zealand in the 1990's). There are lots of ferry routes lying internally within Denmark. Bridges carry more traffic, but there is something much more romantic about travelling a ferry - the poor man's yacht! Interaction with fellow travellers is actually possible. Time isallowed to experience Denmark from the watery medium. No car? No problem, just wheel that bike aboard! The picture is from the Soeby/Aero-Faaborg/Funen crossing with the town of Faaborg and the mighty Alps of Funen lying behind.

Cruise there on a budget

by Newchocs

The best way without a doubt to get to Denmark is on board a cruise ferry. Scandinavian Seaways (DFDS) sail from Harwich and Newcasle to Esjberg in Denmark which is a lovely little fishing town once you get out of the main commercial port. If you are lucky you can get a cheaper than usual deal but even full price is a bargain. For a quick visit, a minicruise can be had for under 80 pounds sterling. This gives you 2 nights on the ship and half a day in Denmark to explore the little town and get a feeling for the place. Open returns are also available for under 200 pounds. Great stuff.
