Kalundborg situated on the coast of the Great Belt only 1 hour and 30 minutes drive from Copenhagen.
Today Kalundborg is a lively, modern town with many interesting specialist shops along its pedestrian street close to the modern active port, which every year attracts several cruise ships.
I still love that cosy town very much......

Kalundborg
Kalundborg is a town full of experiences for all your senses in a cosy environment. The Cultural offerings are numerous, there are restaurants for every taste and shopping temptations out of this world. And Kalundborg has some of the country's most child-friendly sandy beaches.
At the same time, the past thrives in Kalundborg. Both the 5-towered church and the town’s old Højby, with the crooked houses, are well-preserved and well worth a visit.

Kalundborg is an old city and in its surroundings, a lot of finds from the stone age, the bronze age, the iron age and the viking age have been found. These finds are collected in the Kalundborg og omegns museum and they tell the history of the region. Interesting pieces include some big silver ornaments that hail from the Viking age and were probably a gift. Another interesting piece are the graves of two viking age people, who were apparently executed and buried.
Outside the museum, in the garden, is a miniature model of how kalundborg most have looked like in the past, when the castle and the fortifications were still present.

The church of our lady in Kalundborg was built in the 12th century. The church looks quite big on the outside, with its four eight-sided towers on each side and its big four-sided tower in the middle.
On the inside however, the church is surprisingly small and cozy. The altarpiece is relatively simple and that goes for the rest of the church too.
