This restaurant is named after Niko Pirosmani, a famous Georgian painter from the 19th century.
The food is excellent and very distinct from other ethnic foods. It is also pretty cheap even for Estonian prices.
The atmosphere is warm and casual, but it tends to always be very busy after about 4:00 pm every night of the week. It also tends to also be smoky when it is busy, but for some funny reason which defies logic, sitting upstairs seems to be much less smoky. Maybe because cigerette smoke dosen't tend to rise much.
The other minor problem is that it is in Nomme district, which is about 9 or 10 km from old town(but still in Tallinn). It can be easily reached by taxi or by bus, if you are confident in understanding the local buss schedules.
Favorite Dish: I am not a wine conniseur, but I enjoy Georgian wines; which I have been told were also the favorite wines of Joseph Stalin !!!!!
Try the traditional "sulguni" cheese appetizer, kind of a salty mozerella. The traditional Georgian bread that comes with all of the meals is also very good. I also like the "hartso"soup, but it has a spicy flavor that some may not like.
The grilled lamb "sashlok" is my personal favorite but can also be ordered with chicken or pork instead of lamb. The Salmon dish "kalmahi" is also very good.
