    Tallinn Transportation

Do NOT use this company if you want to return to your destination. They seem to cancel departures at the slightest bit of wind, (which must be pretty regularly). Our 1800 return to Tallinn was cancelled and yet the sea seemed pretty calm ( i suspect, but have no proof, that they also cancel if there are not enough passengers). They do NOT provide...

  • Tram/Bus

    Tallinn Transportation

We used Tallinn’s bus system on the day we went to Nõmme. We took the number 36 from near Tammsaare Park to Nõmme and back, a journey which took 20 minutes or so. It is possible to buy, for 2€, a pre-loadable smartcard with which you pay 1.10€ per journey, but if like us you're only in town a short time and not planning on taking a lot of trips,...

  • Airport Bus

    Tallinn Transportation

The cheapest option to get from the airport to the city centre (or vice versa) is to take the No.90K bus operated by Hansabuss. This bus which started operating in May 2011 only costs 2 Euros and has plenty to space for baggage. From the train station just outside the Old Town to the airport, the journey takes around 20 minutes. Check the website...

  • Airport

    Tallinn Transportation

I left Tallinn on an Estonian Air flight to Stockholm (and on from there with SAS to Heathrow). And I was so impressed with this little airport! It was clean and bright, with just enough shops and cafés to be useful but not so many as to be overwhelming. There is free wifi throughout (unlimited) and plenty of comfortable places to sit and relax...

  • Taxis

    Tallinn Transportation

We used TALLINN TAXIS twice. The first time was from Tallinn Coach Station when we arrived by bus from Riga. We had prepaid to Lux Express 6,50 Euros and had our vouchers in hand. The voucher was good for Zone 1, City center and to use the Tallink Takso "red" Taxi. When we approached the taxi, the driver was hesitant to accept the voucher, but when...

  • InterCity Bus

    Tallinn Transportation

I travelled to Tallinn in the company of eight other VT members on the Lux Express bus. A number of companies serve this route but Lux seemed to offer the best combination of convenient timing, degree of comfort on the bus and price. I paid 16€ for my seat on the 10.00 AM Lux Express but prices vary (some departures are dearer than others, and...

  • Walk Old Town

    Tallinn Transportation

The best way to move around Tallin´s old town is walking. From Linda Line terminal it´s about 15 minutes walking to old town and move around it is very nice. Wear a good shoes because most os street are cobblestone. La mejor manera para moverse por el casco antiguo de Tallin es a pie. Desde la terminal de Linda Line se tarda unos 15 minutos...

  • Ferry Stockholm

    Tallinn Transportation

A great way to entry the city of Tallinn os by boat/ferry from Stockholm harbour. The trip will take about 24 hours but there's lot to do on the boat. I'll recommend Ttallinksilja ferry. Silja's ferries operate between Finland, Sweden and Estonia. It is one of the largest passenger and cargo shipping companies in the Baltic Sea region. In the...

  • Autobussijaam

    Tallinn Transportation

The most common way to get around in Estonia and beyond is to take the long haul bus. The Autobussijaam (main bus station) is located about 2km southeast of the Old Town. Trams 2 and 4 stop just outside the Old Town and will take you to within about 100 meters of the bus station (Fare EUR 1.60, buy tickets from the driver). Domestic routes are...

    Tallinn Transportation

For those arriving by ship, the Baltic port of Tallinn is within reasonable walking distance of the city centre. However, courtesy buses are still laid on to transport cruise-ship passengers to & from the city centre, picking up & setting down just outside the city walls.

  • Train

    Tallinn Transportation

While the bus is a more popular way to get around in Estonia, the country does have a system of passenger trains as well. Tallinn's Baalti jaam (main train station) is located on Toompuiestee 37, a 10-minute walk northwest of the Old Town. Trams 1 and 2 also stop just outside the station. The primary connections at the station are the GoRail daily...

  • Copterline

    Tallinn Transportation

There's one more transport option for getting to and from Tallinn, and it's for the more adventurous, those in a mad panic rush, or those with money to spare. The Copterline helicopter trip from Tallinn to Helsinki takes just 15 minutes, and if you book carefully can be had for as little as 89 euros. This works out as about the same as a flight...

    Tallinn Transportation

If for whatever reason you decide to spend your entire time in Tallinn in the Old Town, you will not need any kind of transport except some good shoes. (The only form of public transport you will find in the Old Town are taxis.) However, if you want to see the entire city, it is worth knowing that public transport is free if you have a Tallinn...

    Tallinn Transportation

Brad had ordered a Volkswagen Transporter with 8 passanger seats from Hertz, to pick up in Ahtri Street 12 and deliver downtown Vilnius. The Tallinn location is conveniently close to the harbour, and a pleasant walk from downtown. The Hertz office is on the ground floor in a large building, and we had a little trouble finding it, since it was not...

  • Pedicab

    Tallinn Transportation

I saw a guy with a pedicab - he had a recumbent trike with a space for two people in the back. So I want over to enquire. He said for 350 kronor ($35) we could do an hour tour for the two of us. Sounded good to me. I told him the places we wanted to go and that I wanted to end up back where the shuttle bus was. He said he could do that. The...

  • Parking

    Tallinn Transportation

I propose that in Tallinn are many car parkings near Old city. But there is one good what I can suggest which is very close to everything. It is located in Vabaduse valjak - the square which is near St John's church. It maybe 5 minutes walk to Kiek in de Kok. When you're leaving parking you need to pay directly, there are no parking-machines.
