Ash-mountains and industrial landscapes

by kylamees

I liked some city parks there and interesting classical-looking Stalin time buildings at the centre of the town where municipal house is. You can take excursions to mines near the city, visit Ontika bank (the highest in Estonia, 55,6 m directly from the sea) on North Coast, the highest waterfall of Estonia Valaste (15,5 m). This is the highest artificial hill in Estonia, ash-mountain (ca 160 m). It may be the skiing centre in future, it´s just ash.mountain now.. :)

Going to the Catholic Nunnery...

by lynnsharpe

Going to the Catholic Nunnery outside of Johvi and seeing the firewood stacked in mounds with each log perfectly aligned. Eating in the restaurants and not having any idea of what I was eating- but it was good. A russian soup, solyanka, was my favorite; also a dish called 'home meal' which was like a stew with meat and potatoes in it.
