Nesting storks

I know most Europeans are well-used to storks, but they don't come to the UK.

I don't know why, and I haven't been able to find out.

So it's always a thrill to see them when I'm in Europe.

Coaches and cars park opposite Palmse Manor. If you look up at the chimney above the small shop (and if it's the right time of year, of course) you'll see a stork's nest.

Made my day! :-)

Land reform monument

As you walk round the lake look up the bank.

Tucked away on the edge of the woods is a stone monument to the land reforms of 1919.

The von der Pahlen family lost their land to nationalisation then, and were left with only a small estate surrounding the house itself.
