Surprisingly, I heard no-one talks Estonian here: not border guards, not exchange office stuff, not Information officers. There are 2 or 4 percents of Estonians live in Narva.
At the border in Ivangorod I met two sweet Danes (at the picture) going home after visit to St.Petersburg.

As I already said, Estonian language is not the basic language used in the city, and despite of improvement of knowledge of state language during last 10 years, it is still not welcomed by population, and not neccesarily understood. Your Estonian phrasebook can become useless. However, you will be surprised how friendly people can be if you know some words in Russian.
