Many people miss the historical side completely... And it's a pity - here's an example! Red Tower: It is probably the most ancient building in the whole town of Parnu, built by the Knights of the Sword, who constructed a fort here when they came to this land in the thirteenth century. It was quite obviously reconstructed since those days, but they tried to make it look like its thirteenth-century original. And as I found out later (here they are, the benefits of hindsight on the road!) the Red Tower, or the Punane Torn as it is called in Estonian, is a good, extremely convenient place to start an overview sightseeing excursion in Parnu, as many other sights and cosy cafes and attractive shopping places are situated quite nearby. So, let us hire a bicycle (yes! you will soon realize it is the best form of transportation in Parnu) and head to the junction of Ruutli tanav and Hommiku...
