Stereo Lounge: Stark and hip

by davidmmcneil

This kind of bar would be so expensive and crowded if it were in London. The stark white interior wouldn't look out of place in London or New York, and fits in well in trendy Tallinn. This is a good place to start the night, with reasonable prices, funky music, and a relaxed atmosphere.Beware the toilets though - you have to squat. No dress code as far as I could see

Angels: Gay Tallinn

by kit_mc

Angels has both a cafe space by day and a nightclub next door. The cafe is rather a hip place, with latte's and wireless connection. Although not exclusively gay, the cafe is pretty much the place to hang out for hip gay guys or gals. A really nice atmosphere, decently priced food and a roaring fire to lounge beside. What more could a boy want? The nightclub I'm afraid I can't vouch for as I was only in the cafe, but it gets good reviews from what I can see. Beware that the club is pretty much exclusively gay in order to provide a friendly and non-threatening atmosphere for it's regulars. Open 23.00 to 06.00 Thursday to Saturday. Glamourous perhaps?!

Molly Malones: Ay, my friend!

by Rojo72

Molly Malones, on Mündi in the old town is an Irish pub, at least I felt like it (though I've never been to Ireland). They've got a good selection of whiskys (we had Laphroaig 12 years and Bowmore 17 years) and a whole lot of beer and other alcohols. It's a rather small pub with a nice cozy feeling to it and when we were there one evening there was a live band playing irish music, but singing in estonian, a very strange but nice experience!I'd like to recommend you all to go there! No particular

McCools: Fantastic new bar

by bob1980

This place had only recently opened when we visited in Oct 2003. New and very spacious, with one of the biggest projecter screen I've ever seen in a pub. They have a lot of deas throughout the night which are thrown up on the wall by the afore mentioned projector. Food is also available, as the place is split into a 'FRIENDS' type coffee shop feel, with big comfy chairs and tables on one side and a very long eliptical bar on the other. Expats will love the Fosters and Newcastle Brown on draught, but for the european beer fanatic there is also a well stocked bottle bar that should have something that will tickle your fancy. The lovely female staff will be more than happy to discuss anything from beer to world politics, if its not too busy.Definitely a good place to hit while soaking up some suds, pre nightclub time. Virtually anything goes

Depeche Mode: Can you play some...eh, Depeche Mode?

by TomTomi

If you're a fan you already knew about this. However, a bar dedicated only to Depeche Mode - and that's all you hear. An interesting experience, even if you wouldn't care much for the band. Black, ofcourse!

Von Krahli Baar: Von Krahli Baar

by natusik78

Attached to a theatre in Old Town, this down-to-earth bar is known as Tallinn's main destination for alternative bands and alternative crowds. Anything from Reggae to progressive rock can be found on stage here. Some fans will dance in the small area in front of the stage, while others watch from the wooden-railed balcony above. Observant visitors will notice that there is in fact an upside-down table and chair set attached to the ceiling. There's a small entrance change when bands are playing. Age limit: from 21
