Hesburger/McDonalds: Fast food

by meadwaytourer

This is not something you are going to find in any guide book but Estonia does do fast food just as we are used to in the UK. So, if you feel slightly squeamish about what you might get in the resturants of Tallinn, this could be for you.Hesburger is Finland’s largest chain of fast food hamburger outlets (much akin to McDonalds or Burger King). They are ubiquitous in Tallinn, so there will be no problem finding something tasty and quick to eat. The details below are for the branch in the old town. More pertinently, there's also a McDonalds in town - just opposite Hesburger. It has the same choice that you will find on any British high street. The menus are just like at home - i.e. pictures on the wall behind the counter. Anyway, 'hamburger' is internationally recognised language and 'cheeseburger' is simply 'juustburger'. Hamburgers, cheeseburgers, chicken burgers, tortilla wraps.

Great restaurant guide

by sorenf

This website is the definite English guide to Tallinn restaurants. As far as I can tell they have all worth while restaurants on the site. Only "problem" is that they have listed some restaurants as "International" where it might have been more appropiate to put the in another section, such as The Sushi House which one could argue is in fact a Japanese restaurant.Categories: American Caucasian Chinese Estonian French German Hungarian Indian International Italian Japanese Medieval-Themed Russian Seafood Thai Turkish Fast Food/Delivery

One of the people working there showed me around and I decided to eat there in the evening with my Albert ( he arrived in the afternoon)The restaurants are in a well done up old building and the atmosfhere was great. The resaturaunt has a apple theme. The servise was great, very friendly and the food was good. If you are in the neighbourhood you should go and chek it out. Grand Hotel Tallin: An inexpensive and mouth-watering Estonian buffet

by meadwaytourer

The famous Meriton Grand buffet is in the hotel's attractive downstairs Resturant Le Paris - just on from the reception desk. It runs from 12:00-15:00 and 18:00-22:00.The hot buffet, served in huge stainless steel terrines, is astoundingly good value at 95 EEK for lunchtime and 115EEK in the evening. The dishes are many and varied including grilled meats, schnitzels, stews, fish and plenty of rice and vegetable dishes. The array is absolutely eye-popping and everything I tasted was delicious. Obviously there is no menu (none is needed) so just ask for the buffet at the door. The courteous and helpful Meriton staff speak good English. There was a lovely, rich pork and red wine stew which I paired up with vegetables and rice. The schnitzels in mushroom sauce were also v. nice.

Peppersack & Olde Hansa: The tourist traps

by TomTomi

The two medieval restaraunts next to the market square in old town: Olde hansa and Peppersack, are places where you won't see many locals. They're both dimly lit, with some "modern medieval" music and they both offer feasts, i.e. all you can eat meals. Those are worth the experience, but not for the food. The whole process starts with an usher drying YOUR hands FOR you after you've washed them. Apparently an ooold medieval custom... Note that all feasts must be booked in advance! The only good reason tio visit these restaurants is the athmosphere you get when you're feasting. Depending on which feast you choose, the more well fed you'll be. Be sure to drink the house beers! But if you go for a regular meal from the menu, prepare yourself for a dissappointment. The price/quality is extremely bad. However, the sweet and warm almonds sold outside Olde hansa are delicious, definitely a must!

Olde Hansa: Medieval restaurant in Tallinn

by Travelchili

Olde Hansa was established to honour the Hanseatic League. A visit to Olde Hansa will not only bea great eating experience, but the restaurant and the staff will take you on a journey to Tallinnýs golden age. Start out with the dish called Neptunýs feast. It will include salmon eggs, Andalusian fish, smoke- grilled salmon, herring, quail eggs, castleýs fresh cheese, herb-bread with nuts, and rye bread with smoked ham. I can tell you only one thing *DELICIOUS*If you have a great hunger, try the Earl's forest mushroom soup and then head to the main course where you have tons of great options. It is hard to give suggestions as my mouth is watering so bad, but ok, let me try:You can try out wild boar plate favoured by Earl von Uexkyll or grilled Salmon with forest mushrooms. Both of them were again simply *DELICIOUS* I can't believe you are still up for a dessert!!! I would go for the...

This is a really nice restaurant with good service, clean atmosphere and good food. I was bit surprised when we found it since it is bit hidden. Anyway, the best food I found. Chateaubriand with mushroom sauce with smashed potatoes.

Original interrior, delicious food and first-class service wait you between the stone walls that have seen many centuries. You always meet lots of locals in Kildi Kelder.
