Things to Do

Otepaa Church

Otepaa Church, Otepaa

sorenf Says:  From much of Oteppaa you can see the beautifully lit church across a small valley. The light was too weak for a picture, so I went closer. Having been to Russia, I think it's remarkably how well preserved the Estonian cities and villages are. Many places in Russia there...

Forest fire, or?

Forest fire, or?, Otepaa

sorenf Says:  The sun set can give some amazing scenery, where you think there must be a fire in the distance. The sky explodes in all colours from pink to dark blue, and remember this starts at 3pm in the winter. Sun is gone around 4.15pm.

Otepaa Golf centre

sorenf Says:  Otepaa golf course will be an 18-hole course when it's completely finnished. It opened in 2005, and in 2006 there should be 9 holes opened. The surroundings looked beautifull and it's located very near the Puhajarve Puhkekeskus Spa Hotel

Puhajarve

Puhajarve, Otepaa

sorenf Says:  Puhajarve (Holy Lake) is located right outside Otepaa, and it was once blessed by the Dalai Lama. It's a nice place to go swimming and it has a nice sandby beach, or so I was told. I was there in the wintertime, so I didn't really fancy a swim...

"Alpine" skiing

"Alpine" skiing, Otepaa

sorenf Says:  Otepaa has two small ski centres where you can try some down hill skiing. I believe the emphasis is on hill in this case, because the highest point in Estonia is about 350m. To the south west of Otepaa you find the biggest centre shown in this picture. I didn't try, but I...

The love spring

The love spring, Otepaa

Lodestar Says:  Armuallikas (the Love spring) or Verilýte (blood Spring) is the most Known of all the springs of Pýhajýrve. The spring water contains iron that forms a reddish deposit. AN old legend tells that if one drinks the water of the Love Spring from the silver goblet at Midsummer...

The energy pillar

The energy pillar, Otepaa

Lodestar Says:  It is believed that when you touch the rock, it will give you a great shot of energy, and many people who have tried it say it actually works. Well, even if it doesn't it's still an interesting thing to look at.

Puhajarve Puhkekeskus: Great spa hotel

Puhajarve Puhkekeskus: Great spa hotel, Otepaa

sorenf Says:  Puhajarve is the lake outside Otepaa and this spa hotel has taken it's name from the lake. The hotel is retracted a bit from the lake, but the rooms still offer good views of the lake, most with balconies. For the price we paid (500 eek pr. night pr. room) we got full...
